That I've been accepted on an Access To Higher Education Health course, a step closer to becoming a student midwife :o I start 5th September

I've not been this excited in ages!

Anyone else going/gone back into education?

TaggieCampbellBlack · 26/08/2012 19:05

The NHS is a bit shit but midwifing is the best job in the world.

lurkedtoolong · 26/08/2012 19:06

Well done, I'm doing an OU degree and loving every minute of it. Have a brilliant time and be very proud of yourself.

Kladdkaka · 26/08/2012 19:06

Congratulations and enjoy it.

GhostShip · 26/08/2012 19:11

I want a pink pen that lights up :o

Thanks everyone! Glad I'm taking the plunge now, sick of being stuck in a dead end job.

Got into uni 2 years ago to do a nursing diploma, but couldn't go because my mum got a brain tumour. When I finally got chance to apply again they no longer do the diploma and dont have the right qualifications to do degree.
Blessing n disguise really because midwifery is for me

Well done Grin

I'm a bit (a lot) apprehensive starting my TA level 3 in Sept. Been out of education 19 years and worried I'm just a bit stupid now.

Teahouse · 26/08/2012 19:17

Congrats an enjo the course

Kladdkaka · 26/08/2012 19:17

I'm enjoying it but am very stressed. I think as a mature student you can put more pressure on youself than you would have done at 18. I have to be very displined to get everything done. I have a fixed time every day that is my study time. I'm very scared about the second year as it has exams Shock

TheWalkingDead · 26/08/2012 19:22

Congratulations Ghost - sounds really exciting!

I'm doing work towards an OU degree (Social Policy and Criminology) and on to my first level 2 course - just got my books through and have bought some new stationery, even though I had stuff from the level one course last year!

I don't know if what I'm doing will be anywhere near as useful for a career as yours is, but I missed the immediate satisfaction and acknowledgment I got from doing a good job (I'm a SAHM, and I love the DCs but I felt a bit lost) where I used to work and thought doing something like an OU course would give me that kick up the arse I needed.

Now you have the perfect excuse to look at lots and lots of stationery...mmmm, pens! Grin

Noqontrol · 26/08/2012 19:23

Well done op. Thats brilliant.

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 26/08/2012 19:24

Most important bit of stationary is a set of highlighter pens.

I use them to highlight the different parts of my assignments. Good luck!

redexpat · 26/08/2012 19:31

I'm starting Social Work. In a second language. Crapping myself! Good luck to you all!
