I've not been this excited in ages!

Anyone else going/gone back into education?

I love the phrase baby catcher, but i do wonder sometimes if someone doesnt know what it means, do it sound a bit odd?

TraineeBabyCatcher · 26/08/2012 21:24

Oh and ghost those hoodies are fab.

CheerMum · 26/08/2012 21:31

Good luck. I am going to go back to uni via the OU to finish my degree (gonna do an Open BSc Hons). I start end of September and am thinking of asking my dad to buy me a new pencil case etc ( I'm 39, married with an 11 yr old) hehehe

Buying stationery is just the most exciting thing ever. But do we really need as much now we have computers. Are they stealing the fun of stationery shopping? Grin

BenedictsCumberbitch · 26/08/2012 21:39

Good luck. You must be mad Smile

McHappyPants2012 · 26/08/2012 21:42

Well done :)

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 26/08/2012 21:43

No no, you still need those highlighter pens for assignments!! There is still fun to be had, in 5 different colours!

ReindeerBollocks · 26/08/2012 21:55

Ooh good luck Ghost, I would love to be a midwife (was there for my best friends third birth, it was amazing). However I faint at the sight of blood. I'm sure you'll love the access course and it will give you an insight into the nursing course. I adore good nurses, they are worth their weight in gold.

I'm starting my last two years in law. Having finally got a small but manageable case load, and am finishing my training. I love law it's really interesting and I can't wait for September.

Also treating myself to a spree in paper chase on Friday to celebrate. Stationary is the perk of adult education surely Grin

TraineeBabyCatcher · 26/08/2012 22:11

Stationary shopping is the biz ;)

Is it bad that i have just purchase 5 fountain pens. I bum fountain pens! Now i have one for black, green, purple, blue and a spare.

Reindeer i started with a law degree, i loved it, but it wasnt were my heart was.

Why does every 16-19 year old girl I speak to these days ( and I speak to loads) want to be a midwife? Do you think they understand what the job is? One said to me the other week ' I want to be a midwife because it's clean and you don't have to wipe up poo' excuse me but I think you do!

TraineeBabyCatcher · 27/08/2012 08:08

Haha! She's gonna get a shock!

Pickles77 · 27/08/2012 16:47

ghostship we'll done! I applied for this year but I can't do it this sept as im due the 28th Sad.
Can I please ask if you have your work experience hours to support your uni app before you applied for your college course, or are you going to do it whilst you do your course or try and work whilst you do
It?

sorry for all the questions, hope you don't mind
I hope to be you soon Grin

BenedictsCumberbitch · 27/08/2012 16:53

Leena I think it's because at the minute it seems to be the career du jour. Except unfortunately very few of these programmes that purport to show 'life as a midwife' actually show anythng of the sort. If I knew about midwifery only what I learnt on OBEM then I'd think it was a cushy number as well. Unfortunately I know only too well the reality Grin

GhostShip · 27/08/2012 17:53

pickes I worked as a carer for two years and most unis accept this apparently, especially if you can apply what you learned to midwifery. I am also trying to get midwifery volunteer work but it's proving impossible. I'm hoping to find something that works along side me working a 40 hour week and2 evenings of college.. It's dead competitative anyway so as you can imagine its hard.

leena that's probably why the entry requirements are heightening all the time, because everyone seems to want to do it. I'm 20, but I am very aware of what comes with midwifery and have experienced all the poo, wee and vomit with my elderly residents!
