He went for a run earlier and stepped in dog shit then came in and put his shoes in the washing machine! I think it's just horrible and have just put the machine on again on a hot wash without anything in it, tbh if I could have put bleach in it I would have!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 14/08/2012 21:08

It'll ruin his shoes.

VictorianIce · 14/08/2012 21:09

Can you really blame all of men for that?!

kilmuir · 14/08/2012 21:10

at least he knew how to turn the machine on!

BabyDubsEverywhere · 14/08/2012 21:15

Why cant you put bleach in it? i always put bleach in my machine, is that wrong?

Trills · 14/08/2012 21:16

YABU to say "bloody men" as if all of the male sex is responsible for the thing you are complaining about.

CouthyMow · 14/08/2012 21:16

It rots the rubber seal if you do it too often. And if you have washing machine insurance, it can invalidate it!

BabyDubsEverywhere · 14/08/2012 21:17

Bugger, didnt know that! I wont tell dh as our washer has just died... may have found the cause! oops Blush

icecold · 14/08/2012 21:18

i dont think that is disgusting

just run an empty boil wash after

maddening · 14/08/2012 21:19

Milton?

feralgirl · 14/08/2012 21:22

U to blame all men. And I put shitty nappies in the washing machine which isn't really any different.

Isn't Milton just the same as bleach? It bloody well bleached my nice black work top when I accidentally splashed whilst doing some unaccustomed cleaning Angry

echt · 14/08/2012 21:22
  1. Men?? Your man, OP.
  1. How's it dirty? Then so are skid-marked undies.
JumpingThroughHoops · 14/08/2012 21:22

Umm - what would you did you had a child with the squits? Shit is shit and it goes through on a boil wash.

I put bleach in my machine, mind you I go through machines like sliced bread, no one has ever done an autopsy on the insurance to determine whether it's had bleach in it.

gallifrey · 14/08/2012 21:27

I didn't know you could put bleach in, I might put some in now and put it on again.
I am not normally bothered about shit in general having worked with horses for years and having 2 children, but the thought of washing our clothes in it after its had dog shit in it makes me feel like throwing up!

Soda crystals in the drum rather than the drawer, and a hot wash, will clean your machine without rotting the seals. At least, that's what my washing machine repair man tells me. And it has stopped my seal from going mouldy too. I do it once a fortnight, but I do incredible amounts of washing (around 30-ish a week),it's people would only need to do it once a month.

CouthyMow · 14/08/2012 21:39

It's people?! MOST people. Damn Autocorrect!

JumpingThroughHoops · 14/08/2012 21:40

Good point couthy soda crystals also work far better at getting whites white than vanish, ace or any other market brand.

tartyflette · 14/08/2012 21:42

I'd put some disinfectant in the drawer when doing the boil wash.

Pekka · 14/08/2012 21:44

Couthy Where do you get soda crystals from?

Agree, it is your OH who is disgusting, not men in general.

'Umm - what would you did you had a child with the squits?'
Scrub the items clean by hand and then wash them. Don't want shit caught in the drain traps, same as very muddy clothing gets a scrub to knock off the lumps.
Milton is mild bleach and will act like it on worktops and clothing.

These answers are all from my OH, I don't do laundry.

gallifrey · 14/08/2012 21:49

I just thought he could have at least hosed them off outside first! And this was a huge amount of dog poo on both shoes not just a teeny bit. It must have been a mahousive dog!

pekka soda crystals, corner shop 36p a half kilo.

also in all supermarkets, usually in the 'clean your kitchen' aisle

tartyflette · 14/08/2012 21:51

He should could have scraped the worst of the mess off his shoes outside, and then hosed them off or put them under an outside tap before bunging them in the machine.

tartyflette · 14/08/2012 21:51

happybubblebrain · 14/08/2012 21:57

Lets just blame men in general, because if it's not that, it's something else.
Face facts.
