Would be so much better as a musical ambassador for the UK than Cliff bloody Richards or (even worse) Paul sodding McCartney?

Bloody love him & can't imagine anyone not feeling the same! He is brilliant, prolific, still cool, fabulous voice which doesn't seem to be aging in the unfortunate Paul sodding McCartney's has he was always shite anyway

Just my thoughts! Grin

YANBU - the guy's a genius

tuckingfits · 06/08/2012 03:46

Thank you! He is awesome! And not embarrassing. Unlike the two I.mentioned previously.

YANBU, ..... I'm right behind you there.

Anything is better than Sad Macca thumbs aloft, & the Grannie's friend.

A wee bit of Dire straits would be positively refreshing Confused

GWenlockMaryLacey · 06/08/2012 05:02

Sign me up! Love him. Although tbh I'd have signed up if you were suggesting Keith Harris and Orville :o

WandaDoff · 06/08/2012 05:12

I really love you a very lot sometimes Gwendoline xx Smile

FrillyMilly · 06/08/2012 05:29

Who?

balotelli · 06/08/2012 06:02

I'd give the job to Frank turner.

Just amazing.

KittyFane1 · 06/08/2012 07:49

I don't understand why Sir Cliff and Sir Paul are always paid thousands asked to play. They sound and look awful.

Yama · 06/08/2012 07:51

YANBU. Brother In Arms gives me goosebumps.

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 07:51

Oh yes- was dragged reluctantly by dh to see him live and he was great.
Even orange Tom jones better than cliff and Paul

travailtotravel · 06/08/2012 07:56

He is awesome, so YANBU!

Dawndonna · 06/08/2012 08:03

I worship at the feet of Knopfler, so yes please!

Dolcelatte · 06/08/2012 08:04

YANBU. Knofler is amazing (although I do feel my passion dates me a bit!).

Definitely one of my choices if I ever get on to Desert Island Discs!

CotedePentathlon · 06/08/2012 08:06

I have worshipped the fingers of MK for thirty years, and he still does it for me. Yes, he still has it, and I agree with everybody.

lovebunny · 06/08/2012 08:26

he's one of the few musicians in his field who have improved with age. he's still a bit boring, though...

squeakytoy · 06/08/2012 08:28

YANBU :)

GWenlockMaryLacey · 06/08/2012 08:28

:o

peggyblackett · 06/08/2012 08:29

YANBU. The Olympics should end with Local Hero being belted out, so appropriate.

tuckingfits · 06/08/2012 11:32

boring??? Shock

Glad I'm NBU. Now,if only I could arrange for him to replace those other fuds...

QueenMaeve · 06/08/2012 11:34

yanbu, love his stuff. Heard him live in a small gig in Belfast few years ago, just brilliant.

AugustMoon · 06/08/2012 16:13

Yes yes yes Peggy - Local Hero theme for closing ceremony would be awesome!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/08/2012 16:17

Yes yes and agree with Peggy's suggestion. Frankly anyone other than Macca or Sir Cliff would get my vote, but MK is a v good call. David Bowie would also be a good choice but not sure how he is live.

squoosh · 06/08/2012 16:27

I think the UK could find someone a bit more exctiting than either Macca or Knoppa.

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 16:29

Like Chris from coldplay?

Nancy66 · 06/08/2012 16:29

Oh god no....Dire Straits???

Romeo and Juliet?

Walk of Life?

terrible TERRIBLE music.
