Okay so I'm feeling at bit sorry for myself. DH has come home saying that he has to stay away (overnight) for my birthday leaving me with DD 11months.

How should I make him pay?! Ha ha

Oh I give up!

DH does a week's Activity Holiday with his students and every year it falls over my birthday. The last four years in a row he has been away for the whole week over my birthday. I couldn't give a hoot. This year DD was 5mo so had her to contend with too.

Life happens.

Hmmm maybe the 'harpies' bit was too far. But seriously guys, OP obviously values her birthday - some people do. OH and I always book each other's birthday's off and spend the day together. It's lovely. Anyway OP I do hope you get some more RL support soon and also sort out your DH's excess sleeping!

I had to say Baygreen that you sounded very calm and reasoned, so I too am unsure why some poster is telling you to "calm down"

I also loved this quote

"We all want to be loved, and if we can't be loved, with some fanfare, on our birthdays, then really what hope is there?" Way to make those of us without anyone to care feel good about our birthdays [hmmm So, no hope for me, then, until DD magically loses her SN and can start to buy me a birthday card and make me breakfast in bed.

When I was teaching both mine and my husband's birthdays were in the school term so I couldn't do that anyway. Since the OP is also a teacher she would have to be at work on her own birthday if it didn't fall in the school holidays.
