AIBU? Lots of people ask questions on how to solve a probelm and there are some great, interesting, inciteful and funny answers. It is really interesting to read a thread and then....nothing!

I have no idea what the outcome is/was and how it was finally resolved.

Some of the topics are so interesting and then I get to the end and .... what??? what happened???

..she shouted at the kids - did she speak to the neighbours?
..her ex-husband asked about money from ages ago - what did she email him?
..tenants complained about dog - did she talk to landlord/RSPCA?

However, I have come to accept that people don't update, because the bastards just get on with their lives instead of remembering that they left random people on the internet hanging

So now, if the OP doesn't come back to a thread with an outcome - I make one up myself.

So far, inlaws have had their faces shoved into large trifles, partners have been hit with frying pans, children have been forced to take up morris dancing, neighbours have had cockroaches poured through their letterboxes and various strangers in the street have been hunted down and given wedgies.

I think its because it could feel slightly big headed that random people would remember your posts and want to know outcome?

Big headed? that's a bit harsh. I'm generally interested and people put threads on here (however personal) for all to see and comment on.

I know that people have their own lives to lead and sometimes the question is a bit frivolous and they are just curious to see others reactions. But sometimes the matters are quite serious and it would be nice to see the outcome.

HecateHarshPants, love the idea and with a couple of glasses of red, that is probably what I'll end up doing.

I don't think it's harsh to suggest that the people who start the thread might not come back weeks or months later to say hey, guess what happened next... because they feel they might come across as big headed to think that the rest of us would even remember them or give a shit.

Oh yes, some of the 'endings' to threads have been very amusing.

Well ive only ever started one thread and I did indeed feel it would be bigheaded to assume you all were so interested in my problem and would even remember me. Was only giving my version of why I never gave a update.

Back in the day, Threads I'm On was ordered by when you last posted, so someone updating weeks or months later would get no audience.

Now they are ordered by when anyone last posted (much more sensible) so if you go back to a thread you started a month ago and update it will ping to the top of Threads I'm On for anyone who contributed and they will see your update.

I think Inneedofbrandy means if someone started a new thread about an update to their situation.

But... I imagine that gimmesunshine just meant to post an update at the end of the ongoing thread.

I agree, btw, there are times when I have felt really dissatisfied with not knowing the conclusion. Sad, but true

Would be nice if say in AIBU there was a general last post poll with was the OP being U as well. I like a conclusion.

Sorry, Inneedofbrandy, if I got the wrong end of the stick. Thought you were calling me bigheaded. My head may be slightly large but I don't think everyone is interested in me or everything that I might want to say.

I just thought that for a current thread that is after an answer quickly, it might be nice for the OP to put on what they've decided to do (and what happens next)
