... sitting there looking so bored and grumpy last night. Even when the UK team did their parade she looked completely unenthusiastic. Make an effort, woman! We pay you enough.

Jeez, she jumped out of a fricking helicopter, what more do you want?! Shock Grin

EdithWeston · 28/07/2012 08:15

She however returns more than her "pay" via surrender of the revenue from the Crown Estates.

It was far too late at night for her.

The Queen leaves all other performances by the time she was arriving at this one. My DM is just younger than her, and despite being in good health, would struggle with the such a late timing.

YABVU.

LAlady · 28/07/2012 08:15

She was also appeared to be looking at her nails when the cameras were on as Team GB passed. Loads of excuses from the BBC commentators.

Bobyan · 28/07/2012 08:18

Maybe she knew Paul McCartney was coming up Grin

picnicbasketcase · 28/07/2012 08:18

Regardless of her ceremonial position, she's a woman in her eighties who has had a very long day, I'm not surprised she wasn't beaming the whole time.

twofingerstoGideon · 28/07/2012 08:19

She should have had an afternoon nap, Edith.

OP posts:
MrsKeithRichards · 28/07/2012 08:20

She could have cracked a smile. Phillip manages!

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 28/07/2012 08:20

What Edith said. She is no longer young....leave her alone!

RunningOutOfIdeas · 28/07/2012 08:21

Not sure how she could have had an afternoon nap when she had to host a reception for other world leaders before the ceremony.

i agree she did look bored though.

JustFabulous · 28/07/2012 08:23

YABU.

You are lucky you won't get sent to the Tower Grin.

I don't expect there was a break in her day to have a nap.

Pickgo · 28/07/2012 08:24

Yes I think it was a temporary lapse unfortunately caught on camera at just the wrong point. She's usually so good at looking alert and interested in interminably looong state occasions.

Maybe she was not amused?

twofingerstoGideon · 28/07/2012 08:25

A 'temporary lapse' of several hours, Pickgo?

OP posts:
BillyBollyBandy · 28/07/2012 08:26

But she really entered into the spirit with Bond! She's a legend. Albeit a very old one Smile

JustFabulous · 28/07/2012 08:27

The camera wasn't on her for several hours Hmm.

twofingerstoGideon · 28/07/2012 08:29

Oh. So it was a coincidence that every time is was on her she looked bored witless?

OP posts:
GhostShip · 28/07/2012 08:29

People need to do the research about the queen. To many people bang on about how we pay her and how she doesn't pay tax.
Well she does, one sort of tax she pays voluntarily. Also she surrenders the money her estate makes to our country. So there :o

She could have looked a bit happier but we've got to remember she's an older woman now and it might all be a bit much!

TheOneWithTheGoldMedal · 28/07/2012 08:30

I think she was just knackered. She's in her eighties and it was late. Dh and I almost gave up and went to bed. She didn't have that option and she's fifty years older than me.

YABU

Tee2072 · 28/07/2012 08:31

I didn't think she looked bored. I think she looked exhausted.

legoballoon · 28/07/2012 08:31

I'm a republican, but yes, YABU - a woman in her eighties has every right to look a bit tired at that time of night. Especially after all that flirting with Daniel Craig. My nan would have scowled and turned her hearing aid off for most of it too.

Badvoc · 28/07/2012 08:31

I think she is naturally quite taciturn.
She isn't a smiled by nature.
I agree it looked bad when the team FB passed by and she was picking her nails though! But that is a tiny snapshot of a 4 hour ceremony...

ivykaty44 · 28/07/2012 08:34

whether the Queen smile or not doesn't really matter - it was a great night and didn't effect me one way or the other or spoil my enjoyment of the event.

I thought she was a great sport getting in on the act and doing the filming at Buckingham palace - she could have said no

Givememorecheese · 28/07/2012 08:37

I would have looked bored too during the parade of the teams. It was boring! Fortunately I had the option of sneaking off and doing some housework to keep myself awake until we got to another good bit.

She was such a good sport doing that scene with Daniel Craig and all people can say is "didn't she look bored". How terribly British, some people are never happy

QuickLookUsainBolt · 28/07/2012 08:40

Leave her alone, she's an old woman for goodness sake.
She doesn't know when she's on camera, so can't be expected to smile for hours on end just on the off chance. Poor Phillip looked very tired too.

Did anyone see Charles, Camilla and Boris laughing like drains? They looked like they were enjoying every minute.

Pickgo · 28/07/2012 08:45

I saw that too Quick.... Charles and Camilla do look happy together don't they? Got the fairy tale ending of a sort after all....

herecomesthsun · 28/07/2012 08:45

I am not a royalist.

However last few days-

Tues, wasn't she hosting the Sundry Prime Ministers' Get Together?

Weds, she was in the Isle of Wight am. She helicoptered in (and it was really her) to the New Forest Show in the afternoon.

Thurs, the Olympic Torch comes to Buck Palace

Fri, this shindig, which was too late for me and I am a lot younger.

She is 86 for Godsake!
