To think this a bit weird

Im going to a hen night tonight and I don't know ANY of the other ten people going. I don't even know the bride that well. I've maybe had three short conversations with her ever. It's at a restaurant. Should I bring something or offer to help pay for her tonight or whats the form? I've left it a bit late to get her anything decent but then I have no idea what she'd want.
Anyway I'm kind of dreading this. Is that unreasonable?

why are you going then?

PissyDust · 21/07/2012 17:13

How did you manage to end up going?

I'm sure it will be fine.

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:14

Because last time I missed someone's hen night they were upset with me. Also because when she invited me I assumed some of our mutual friends would be going. Feel I can't really pull out at last minute now she has booked a table.

If it was me I'd ask if I could bring someone.

Or have diarrhoea. Nobody wants further information about diarrhoea...

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:16

See I only realised about half an hour ago that I don't know anyone going when I looked at the Facebook group and my heart sank.

squeakytoy · 21/07/2012 17:16

Oh well go.. you may well end up having a really great night and making new friends. :)

squeakytoy · 21/07/2012 17:17

It is possible that some of those going are not on facebook too.. and you may know them.

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:17

Thing is lurkey I don't even have her phone number. THAT'S how little I know her.

I hope you're right squeaky. Best heave my heavy bones into the shower then. As for a gift I'm kind of thinking, no need. What do you think?

HildaOgden · 21/07/2012 17:20

Have the mutual friends all pulled out or were they not invited in the first place?I'd feel sorry for her and show up if she has already had a lot of cancellations. If,on the other hand, you were the only one invited out of the group I wouldn't feel bad about developing imaginary diarrhoea in the next hour.

If you go,you'll just have to wing it re:paying for stuff.See what the other girls are doing and chip in if they are.

slartybartfast · 21/07/2012 17:21

OH, You shoudl take a gift. otherwise it seems like a freebie.
but its a bit late.
are you going to wedding?

slartybartfast · 21/07/2012 17:22

oh its not unreasonable to go, if you are an outgoing sort of good time girl Grin

Solo · 21/07/2012 17:22

Gifts? for a hen night? Blimey, things have changed!

squeakytoy · 21/07/2012 17:24

I went to a couple of hen do's recently and no gifts were given by anyone.

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:25

Slarty it won't be a freebie. In sure well split the bill and probably pay hers too. She's having 3 hen dos so I guess some of the mutual friends we have are going to those. I'll just bite the bullet. There is nice food and wine involved so how bad can it be?

squeakytoy · 21/07/2012 17:25

Table booked does not mean paid for! I would assume OP will be paying for her meal. Never known a hen party where the guests got anything free.

chilled7up · 21/07/2012 17:25

Why did she invite you of you hardly know each other?

squeakytoy · 21/07/2012 17:26

3 hen do's????? Confused

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:27

At least it's not the kind of hen do which involves inflatable cocks. If anyone gets out an inflatable cock or tries to make me wear a novelty item I reserve the right to get the fuck out.

OP posts:
slartybartfast · 21/07/2012 17:27

yes go, have fun

chilled7up · 21/07/2012 17:27

If not off Blush

LentillyFart · 21/07/2012 17:28

3 hen dos?? No wonder she's having to invite people she doesn't know! Are you lot the 'C' team?

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:30

I don't know why she invited me to be honest. I was quite surprised. Maybe she doesn't know many people.

OP posts:
HildaOgden · 21/07/2012 17:32

How do you know her at all,Spider?I kind of assumed you were the gf of one of her grooms friends?

Spidermama · 21/07/2012 17:32

No lentily everyone was invited to every do so I chose the one least likely to involve novelty accessories and inflatable cocks.
