to be upset about being barged over

My brother came over yesterday and we were playing with the DCs in the garden. We were playing football in the back garden and I had the ball and he charged over and barged me over with his shoulder. He hurt a bit and he showed no remorse and the dc started laughing Hmm. I got up and carried on but its really annoyed me as it was quite out of turn. DP says that it was probably just youthful exuberance combined with sibling rivalry and that its no big deal and that I shouldn't let it bother me but its really annoyed me.

YABU - football is a contact sport.

paticker · 19/07/2012 14:57

YANBU to charge over and just barge someone over when all you were doing was just having a friendly kick around in the back garden is a bit off. How old is he?

diddl · 19/07/2012 14:57

You should have kicked him in the balls & then put your hands up in that "no, I didn´t touch him" way that the pros do.

How old are the children & was it "physical" before he joined in?

Is he young & still in the showing off stage/doesn´t know the difference between a serious match & a kick about with the rellies?

ioplim · 19/07/2012 15:00

The DCs are 6 and 4, no it wasn't physical we were jst playfully kicking the ball around the garden and I just ran with the ball towards ds and he cam across. He is 18

How old is your brother? If he is older than about 8 then yanbu! I would have twatted mine if he did that!

cybbo · 19/07/2012 15:06

So why are you starting a thread on here?

AIBU is the most ridiculous topic

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 19/07/2012 15:07

18...well they are still a bit silly at that age but still. I remember when I was 18 a lad picked me up and threw me in a hedge for fun!I chipped my tooth! Twat.

SoleSource · 19/07/2012 15:07

Maybe he didn't mean to hurt you.Maybe he just fely part of the family and was playing. Is he content at home? He could have meant as trying to bond with you so you didn't forget the day..or he is jealous...

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 19/07/2012 15:08

Cybbo I don't get what you're asking the OP???

cybbo · 19/07/2012 15:08

And now I'm cross with myself for wasting time posting

cybbo · 19/07/2012 15:09

Well you speak to the person who hurt you, you don't start a thread about it

Or am I wrong?

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 19/07/2012 15:10

WHY? OP asked is she BU to be upset....maybe she thought someone would say "Yabu if you play footie, you should expect to be pushed over" or maybe she wanted to vent. You're not the thred police Cybbo.

maggio · 19/07/2012 15:10

He's 18 and probably a bit stupid, I doubt that he meant any malice towards you. If it really bothers and you have a very easy life if it does then talk to him about it and say that he upset you. I bet that he would apoligise.

cybbo · 19/07/2012 15:10

Oh yes I am

SoleSource · 19/07/2012 15:10

She is asking whether her feelings are reasonable or not about a particular incident. Working it out, therefore I believe AIBU is the correct place for her to post.

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/07/2012 15:11

Bless you Cybbo

That is the whole point of AIBU.

whois · 19/07/2012 15:11

Your 18 year old brother barged into you? Oh come on. YABU. Forget and forgive, siblings do stuff like that!

cybbo · 19/07/2012 15:13

I imagine the OP limping in from the garden through her patio doors and angrily started AIBU while her brother high fives everyone and slam dunks the ball

.sorry but it's tickled me

babyheaves · 19/07/2012 15:14

Football isn't a contact sport, unless you're playing for dirty Leeds Grin

cybbo · 19/07/2012 15:14

Don't make me bend you over my car bonnet, lady

bnad · 19/07/2012 15:15

YANBU your brother has attacked you for no apparent reason whilst you were playing football with your children. It is not acceptable to just push someone over and a 18yo is plenty old enough to know this.
