Flip! Just googled it! Sounds very dangerous.

I'm on Yasmin, nothing wrong with it at all.

Seona1973 · 13/07/2012 22:19

all the contraceptive pills have a long list of side effects as do things like paracetamol and ibuprofen!

LentillyFart · 13/07/2012 22:19

What does your doctor say?

WorraLiberty · 13/07/2012 22:21

Who the fuck is Yasmin and why don't you just PM her?

The Americans seem to love taking the makers to court!
GP says it isn't given as a first choice as its double the risk of normal COC but risk is still lower than pregnancy.

I thought it wasn't given as first choice because it's more expensive. That's why the Brook clinics don't stock it.

Kayano · 13/07/2012 22:30

Yasmin is awesome!

Dr google told me I had a brain tumour.

I actually had anxiety and a tension headache.

Dr google
Is full of shit Wink

Yasmin has agreed with me on the whole - went on it after a spell on Dianette for acne and have been surprised that it's got my skin really clear and I don't think it has affected my mood like Dianette did.

TheCraicDealer · 13/07/2012 23:21

Iirc Yasmin is like £9 a packet and microgynon (contraceptive of the devil) is about 90p, which is why it's the "go to" pill for many.

I'm on Yasmin for my skin and have had no problemos whatsoever.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 13/07/2012 23:22

Yasmine was the only pill I vaguely liked when I was using them. But the doc wouldn't let me have them long term, I forget why.

arthurfowlersallotment · 13/07/2012 23:32

It is the most expensive. And when I took it I lost weight... I can't be sure it was down to Yasmin though...

However it did give me awful mood swings...and lovely skin..!

I'm bf now so don't take it.

SandyBottoms · 13/07/2012 23:41

Yasmin is really good. I have been on it for 3 years now and cannot sing the praises enough. I have clear skin, no moodiness, very light periods and I'm much calmer. Only slight side effect is lack of interest in sex.. Can take it or leave it but once I get into it it's okay IYSWIM.

mummyneedingahug · 14/07/2012 08:23

It has made me feel a bit flu like and I have had leg pains in both legs after 1 week......might be all in my head though!

AgathaCB · 14/07/2012 08:37

It gave me patches of pigmentation on my face. A relatively common side effect, apparently.

ZillionChocolate · 14/07/2012 08:45

mummyneedingahug how do you know your symptoms are down to Yasmin if you've only been on it a week? Could equally just be a coincidence couldn't it?

I have taken it for several years with no problems AFAIK.

BertieBotts · 14/07/2012 08:50

Yep, it's expensive which is why it's not the first choice for doctors to prescribe.

A friend told me it's the best one - no idea if this is true.

ErikNorseman · 14/07/2012 09:47

Yasmin is the lowest dose combined pill. I have found it to be brilliant.

theodorakis · 14/07/2012 10:43

Yasmin keeps my polycystic ovaries under control, made me lose weight and makes my hair shiny. I bloody love it

cherrypez · 14/07/2012 11:02

What is COC? I just started on Yasmin yesterday after a year on the injection, which I loved.

Seona1973 · 14/07/2012 11:51

combined oral contraceptive (COC)

aawcmon · 14/07/2012 13:47

I tried numerous different types of pills before being advised I can no longer take hormonal contraception. I remember being on this pill, had awful pains in my legs, especially at night, came off them straight away. Guess you could just try and see how you get on, everyone will react in different ways.

PuffPants · 14/07/2012 13:58

I was very happy on Yasmin, stopped about 4 yrs ago when ttc with DC1. I can't wait to go back on it eventually. Light periods, no pmt, clear skin - and a couple of pounds weight loss at the beginning iirc.

It is really expensive. I'm going to fight for it next time.

MamaMary · 14/07/2012 14:18

I took Yasmin. It is fine. My doctor prescribed it because I suspected the first pill I tried (can't remember the name) made me put on weight. Yasmin was absolutely fine. Didn't put on weight. Don't google it - just try it and see how it affects you!

derekthehamster · 14/07/2012 14:32

I've been on it for years, lack of sex drive is the only problem Grin, although I din't have much of one beforehand!

Jiggleballs123 · 14/07/2012 17:17

I'm on it and so far so good.

Had a lot of mood swings which have now settled down, my skin is clear and no pregnancy.
