Sometimes I want to like a thread or a post but can't be arsed to comment have nothing to add to it. Wish there was a like
button like Facebook.

OP posts:

NO. Stop telling MNHQ to do this. NO. Angry

happydotcom · 11/07/2012 22:59

Oh please can we have one :)

FannyPriceless · 11/07/2012 23:01

In the interests of balance I would have to demand a dislike button if this proposal goes through.

Maghribia · 11/07/2012 23:09

I think it would slow things down on MN. People could just click the like button and wouldn't feel the need to type so much perhaps? And that could be boring Wink

Bubbaluv · 11/07/2012 23:19

I agree - would stop all the "What she said" comments blowing a thread out to extraordinary lengths.
Maybe a thumbs up, thumbs down option?

creativepebble · 11/07/2012 23:24

Yes, me too. Have often wanted this.

SoleSource · 11/07/2012 23:26

IGNORE USER button please MNHQ

:)

msrantsalot · 11/07/2012 23:28

I asked this the other day and got shot down. I often read thread and find out another poster has said exactly the same as I would have, so it would make my comment redundant. Often someone says something funny too, which I would "like." I don't really understand why people are so against this, seems strange to me. It won't turn Mumsnet into FB.

whatinthewhatnow · 11/07/2012 23:29

yes, thumbs up/down button, def. I think mnetters will still find plenty to talk about, magh.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:31

If they introduce thumps up and down, I'm off

WorraLiberty · 11/07/2012 23:32

Yes I think we need a like button

Often, when you go to catch up on a thread and someone has addressed a comment to you 3hrs ago, you want to acknowledge it without having to copy and paste it onto the end of the thread.

Adding a like button really wouldn't be a big deal but to hear some posters who are so against it, you'd think we were asking for a kidney.

msrantsalot · 11/07/2012 23:33

@ whatinthewhatnow

Spatsky · 11/07/2012 23:33

I thought earlier a like button would be good but I take earlier posters pony about it stopping people posting and slowing the oars dwn

Ignore user is pointless. I tried ignoring someone on another forum but you still se they posted something but you can't see what and curiosity gets the better of you and you end up un-hiding the post anyway.

msrantsalot · 11/07/2012 23:33

@usual, why do you find it so offensive?

ExitPursuedByABear · 11/07/2012 23:34

This is like Groundhog Day.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:34

Thumbs down button though? come on thats crap.

ExitPursuedByABear · 11/07/2012 23:35

And it is still noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:35

I don't find it offensive just a bit daft.

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:36

Way to make someone feel like shit with your thumbs down shit.

WorraLiberty · 11/07/2012 23:36

I don't think the fact someone clicks a like button will necessarily stop them adding to the thread.

On FB I often click like and then go on and add my comment.

Spatsky · 11/07/2012 23:38

It wouldn't stop the more prolific posters who post all over the place anyway but I think it would mean more casual posters liking a lot more than posting. Might be wrong, there have been a few today that I would have liked someone else's post and probably not posted myself had the function been thee.

msrantsalot · 11/07/2012 23:39

do you never read a thread and think, oh yeah, that poster said something intelligent and I wholeheartedly agree, but then never bother to write it?

usualsuspect · 11/07/2012 23:40

Not really , I either stick my oar in or think fair point well made and move on.

creativepebble · 11/07/2012 23:41

I think a like button would make it more user-friendly.

Wouldn't stop many people posting as us MNers have lots to say but it's good to 'like' to say we found something funny or to agree.

SoleSource · 11/07/2012 23:41

I use a forum where there is an ignore user button and I do just that ignore them! Not useless for me. I'm not that nosey .
