50 shades baby boom... really?!?

Not read it. Just did a search on here for the book and most threads seem to be laughing at it rather than raving.

Surly this single book isn't going to be responsible for a baby boom though. For a start, not enough people have read it. I hadn't even heard of it. Secondly, if its going to make you a bit frisky then I'm sure we all understand how to have sex without making a baby.

Twoddle. Right?

" I hadn't even heard of it"

Have you had your head in a bucket for the last couple of months?

snaplockslags · 04/07/2012 20:31

well if it is as it's been dubbed mummy porn, maybe married women having sex with their husbands are less careful not to get pregnant because it would not be the end of the world if they did?

valiumredhead · 04/07/2012 20:31

Not enough people have read it? Everyone's read it!

Not heard of it? Do you live under a rock? Wink

DraggleTailedWench · 04/07/2012 20:32

Pretty much. I'm booked in at the surgery to have it removed once the Olympics are over.

Rocks can be very cosy this time of year... Not much space for my bucket though. Blush

No Valium Grin - not everyone has read it! I haven't read it and now that it's being described as 'mummy porn' I am the more determined NOT to read it! I cut my teenage teeth on my Dad's Harold Robbins books on the sly so 'mummy porn' just ain't going to do it for me!

Huffles · 04/07/2012 20:35

I've not read it but almost everyone I know is or has.

TBH, those who have read it say it's very repetitive and a terrible read.

I googled it to have a nose and one fan site about it says it was started as a fan fic to do with Bella Swan and Edward Cullen from twilight. But it got such a following that the author decided to release it as a book (with name change)

snaplockslags · 04/07/2012 20:35

Mummy porn is just a daily mail headline, I've had many orgasms out of it

2kidsintow · 04/07/2012 20:35

I'm not reading it either.

ELR · 04/07/2012 20:36

Well I may just be one of those irresponsible married mothers of two joining the baby boom! Not due on for a few days but feeling very strange at the minute and myself and DH did have a few saucy moments when he was working from home a few weeks ago!! Just hope it's all in my imagination.....

DraggleTailedWench · 04/07/2012 20:36

Must say, I'm not tempted to have a read. Did read a couple of lines of the synopsis last night on my kindle and decided it sounded trashy. To discover it is some kind of baby making phenomenon just seems ludicrous.

Possible congratulations then ELR!

Lentilly me too, my parent's book shelf was very interesting! - I only read it as it was this month's book club choice, it was chosen for a laugh. I had decided not to read it before it was chosen as I read the sample on Kindle and it was so shit!

diddl · 04/07/2012 20:38

I only heard of it recently & the first part has been out for more than a year, hasn´t it?

DraggleTailedWench · 04/07/2012 20:38

Don't get me wrong, I was quite prepared to be shouted down my lots of recently pregnant Mummies who have benefited from the book. As has already stated, my head has been in a bucket Grin. So feel free to put me straight if you are one of the baby boomers????

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 04/07/2012 20:39

I am convinced it wouldn't have been so popular if it hadn't been free on Kindle.

Glittertwins · 04/07/2012 20:40

I haven't read it either!

5inthebedPPA · 04/07/2012 20:41

I've read all three (for my sins) and didn't find the sex scenes that fantastic. Certainly wasn't turned on enough to have sex with my DH anyway Wink

valiumredhead · 04/07/2012 20:44

The sex scenes were awful and very 'vanilla' even the ones that were meant to be racy Hmm

OliviaSvelteMumsnet · 04/07/2012 20:48

50 shades of Mumsnet
Much funnier than the original not that I have read it

SuchFunSuchFun · 04/07/2012 20:50

valiumredhead is it free on kindle?? Bugger, I paid for it on my kindle, how did that happen?? Confused

squeakytoy · 04/07/2012 20:50

I have to agree Olivia, that IS very very funny.. :)

I read all three of the books and wondered why she hadnt dumped him sooner... the sex was actually very boring!

Glittertwins · 04/07/2012 21:03

I've enjoyed the MN version!

sobloodyexpensive · 04/07/2012 21:03

It's one of the most unsexy things I've ever read, the hero is a creepy weirdo.
