After Reading fifty shades of grey I googled the trilogy and found some articles on the rise of mummy porn , incidentally last week I was Reading about the rise of mummy blogging and mummy buisnesess and along with the deep hatred a lot of journalists (both male and female) seem to have for mumsnet it really seems to me that society is still uncomfortable with women having strong opinions careers and call the church elders actually enjoying sex for reasons other than having children.

Apparently according to one paper women are meeting up and giggling over the saucy parts , I really think women can read sex scenes without giggling we are not adolescents.

I just find it really offensive it's like oh you started a buisness and had children how very clever you are it's only a mummy buisness but how very clever (pat on the head)

grrr

is it just me

And don't get me started on the whole yummy mummy thing

OP posts:
SPsFanjoLovesRussellHoward · 04/07/2012 14:59

What the actual fuck is "mummy porn"

Nancy66 · 04/07/2012 15:00

Don't understand the point you are trying to make. Are you saying 50 Shades is a good thing?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 04/07/2012 15:04

It's just a cheap and nasty book, if people want to giggle over the rudie bits who bleddy cares ??

Mind your own business.

ObiWan · 04/07/2012 15:04

People write all sorts of rubbish.

In real life, I don't know of anyone who thinks like that.

Nor do I know of any people who gather for coffe and whisper about 'bowel stuff', or Tena Lady.

MissFaversam · 04/07/2012 15:05

Are you feeling put out by the word "mummy" being put before all these things therefore somehow making them seem trivial?

MissFaversam · 04/07/2012 15:06

Yes Obi, those stupid Tena Lady adverts make my teeth itch Grin

Giggle giggle, piss piss

WithoutCaution · 04/07/2012 15:08

There are far better books out there of a similar genre than 50 Shades of Grey.

Giggling... over sex scenes... What are they, 12 Hmm

Goes back to reading erotic smut...

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 04/07/2012 15:12

What Confused

What has yummy mummy got to do with 50 shades of grey

See this is what puts me off the feminism boards - people seem to scream sexist at bloody everything!

Alurkatsoftplay · 04/07/2012 15:13

Do you mean that you find the term "mummy....business/porn/blogging..." patronising?
If so, I agree

PenisVanLesbian · 04/07/2012 15:15

Is anyone reading the OP?

It's the appelation of "mummy" to things that is the problem. 50 shades of shite is a load of crap, however why call it "mummy" porn? Why call a blog a "mummy" blog etc?

Of course its bloody insulting. No such thing as daddy porn, is there? It's the "oh look, a women with children did it, it will probably appeal to other women with children" its demeaning and stupid.

maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour · 04/07/2012 15:16

I get you op, it's not so much about the fifty shades books but that because some women enjoy them they are 'mummy porn', and a business run by a woman at home is a 'mummy business' but if a man works from home it's not a daddy business it's just a business Hmm I was going to put something about porn for men not being daddy porn but I think daddy porn is a whole other thing Grin

Alurkatsoftplay · 04/07/2012 15:16

Hooray penis, nicely put!

squeakytoy · 04/07/2012 15:18

Many women ARE cashing in on this "yummy mummy" thing though.

The "mummy" aspect is their marketing tool.

ChristianGreyIsAJackass · 04/07/2012 15:22

I stopped reading when i heard it referred to as 'mummy porn' due to the fact i was vomiting in my shoes

Alurkatsoftplay · 04/07/2012 15:24

Some people might use the mummy tag but many find it off-putting. What's wrong with the word 'woman'?

NoComet · 04/07/2012 15:24

Yes the whole slightly surprised look that women let alone mummy's do anything is very irritating.

SPsFanjoLovesRussellHoward · 04/07/2012 15:24

jackass that's when I stopped, no one answered question though.

ChristianGreyIsAJackass · 04/07/2012 15:28

SP its porn for mummys, as opposed to normal regular porn, which is for people with no children... Oh and daddys Hmm

Alurkatsoftplay · 04/07/2012 15:29

mummy porn is the new term for what once was 'women's erotica'

ChristianGreyIsAJackass · 04/07/2012 15:31

I objected to one line in an interview i read with her, she said, i get thousands and thousands of women coming to get their book signed, its overwhelming blah blah blah...

there are even a few men too

Maybe its not just for mummys!

honestly, you would think she had invented the genre of erotic fiction!

PenisVanLesbian · 04/07/2012 15:35

I loathe the word mummy anyway. Acceptable when small children call their mothers it (other peoples, not mine), but that is all.
Any woman referrring to other women as mummies should be tied up and read to from Gloria Steinem and Naomi Firestone until she promises never to do it again. Any man doing it should just be shot.

Alurkatsoftplay · 04/07/2012 15:35

But most people (on Facebook) seem to think she did! ooh, it galls.

WorraLiberty · 04/07/2012 15:41

I don't really get the point you're trying to make OP.

If your point is the use of the word 'Mummy' and 'Mummy Porn' then YABU to find it cringeworthy.

But...

Apparently according to one paper women are meeting up and giggling over the saucy parts , I really think women can read sex scenes without giggling we are not adolescents

I'd like to think so too but I expect whoever wrote that in the paper has been studying Facebook, Twitter and various other internet sites where 'Mummies' and women in general have been openly 'giggling' at the saucy parts.....

Katiepoes · 04/07/2012 15:51

Calling it mummy porn allows Daily Mail types deal with the fact that women (whisper it) enjoy sex. A lot. Especially when a bit pervy.

(Not that book though that was shite).

EndangeredOtter · 04/07/2012 16:00

YABU.

Feminism gave us the CHOICE to be 'yummy mummys' or to be business minded. If that is how some women choose to live then more power to them.
