3 weeks til th summer hols? Wink

It's only the first day - give it a while x

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2012 14:43

First days back are always crap. Like Valium says, you have the summer hols coming up soon and then when you go back in Sept you will get into it more.

Hang on in there, it will get better and of course you miss your DD but like my DS always says, its a good miss :)

Gumby · 02/07/2012 14:43

How on earth do you get time to mumsnet?!!!

cheekypickle · 02/07/2012 14:43

afternooon break!

WorraLiberty · 02/07/2012 14:45

I assumed all schools were like my DS's and that teachers had to lock their phones away?

SoleSource · 02/07/2012 14:48

Three weeks? aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2012 14:51

3 week - hell I cant wait.....even though I work full time, in the holidays I drop to 3 days per week and its so nice even on the days I am working not to have to stress about school runs, early bedtimes etc etc...bring it on :)

FireOverBabylon · 02/07/2012 14:53

At least with teaching, you don't get "helpful" comments from other co-workers like "ooh, I don't know how you do it, I couldn't have bared (sic) to leave my DD when she was the age of your little one" (picks self esteem up off the floor).

I would give my job up in a flash to be at home with DS 2.11 but have to accept that my salary is the larger one so I have to work full time. Try and remember the things you like about teaching and remember when you do have good times with your daughter, days out, swimming etc, that you're working has provided you with the money to fund these times. If there are thins that aren't good about your work, try and articulate them - I have no window by my desk and don't regularly get to speak to other people as my team of staff don't work near by - so you can talk them through at work and try to establish a solution.

SoleSource · 02/07/2012 14:58

i guess it is different for me as I have to take my DS to his respite four days a week. 10 miles there, 10 miles back, 10 miles there, 10 miles back, 160 miles per week. Then sometimes he goes overnight at weekends although rare and same mileage. The petrol, extra food etc :( 9am start 4pm finish.

MizK · 02/07/2012 14:58

It will get better, I'm sure.... also summer hols beckon! Hope you feel happier sbout things by the end of the week! If your DD is at nursery, she's probably having a fab day running riot with lots of nice toys and making friends. If she's with her dad or a family member, she'll probably be being spoiled rotten. So its a win for your DD at least :) I'm sure you will get extra hugs from her when you get home cause you've been apart all day!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2012 15:03

Soul - thats sounds a lot :( - no wonder you said hari kari!

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/07/2012 15:07

Cheesy - how many days are you working?
I do 2 days and even when I hate it (which is often but due to the job not missing the dc) I know I've only got at most one more day to do that week.

Will you have your own class in September?

NevilleBarnes · 02/07/2012 15:16

Blimey, it's only 3 weeks til the summer holidays which I'm guessing means 6 weeks at home for you. 15 days op, not too bad.

And you miss your dd but iirc you're still going to send her to her childminder 5 days a week for 4 weeks over the summer? So you don't want to spend time with her but you don't want to work.

Tempted to say get a grip. Many others would dearly love to be able to have 13 weeks holiday pa, and the security of a job like yours.

CurrySpice · 02/07/2012 15:20

Like Neville I'm bit confused by the "missing DD" / "sending her to CM 5 days a week in the summer holidays" dichotomy

CurrySpice · 02/07/2012 15:22

Although if I've got the wrong MNer I apologise Blush

NevilleBarnes · 02/07/2012 15:22

Sorry if that sounds harsh but I am heartily sick of people moaning about teachers holidays and ops like this make me a bit cross.

And yes, I am a teacher too and I have three children. I work part time but also work a second job at weekends as I find childcare too expensive (only one of mine is at school, younger two in nursery), so dh and I share the childcare.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2012 15:23

Eh Confused...I must have missed a post about OP's DD going to the CM?

NevilleBarnes · 02/07/2012 15:27

Betty the op has posted threads over the last few days about her dd going to the cm over the summer holidays.

Betty financially it is a killer. We really have to go without around now to save for the fuel. He loves it there with his friends and the staff :) He is happy I am happy. Just dread the costs involved :)

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2012 15:30

Thanks Neville - I thought I was going bonkers!!

CurrySpice · 02/07/2012 15:30

Oh it was the same person.

In which case OP, I really am confused.

Putting that aside, FGS it's your first day. Give it a chance. And you've only got 3 weeks till you get 6 weeks off. I wish I did!! I also assume that being as you don't have your own class there's no planning etc to do. So you need to get a grip

NevilleBarnes · 02/07/2012 15:31

Op, having read a few of your recent threads (and they seem numerous) I think you are asking for support in your decisions. It might be that AIBU is not the best place to do this. I appreciate it gets more traffic than other topics and maybe you simply enjoy receiving replies to your threads.

NevilleBarnes · 02/07/2012 15:32

Oh Sole Sad that's awful.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2012 15:33

Soul, thats really bad..I hope you make sure you are getting all the help you are entitled to!

Baygreen · 02/07/2012 15:50

OP I don't understand why you keep posting about the same things over and over and over.
When you do you get good advice/support but you seem to come back and ask again.
I know you can post what you want but I just don't get it.
