I know everyone goes on about them but I've just had a big shop delivered, 2 subs, both very sensible and in my favour

delivery man was very pleasant and helpful

they get a lot of criticism but I'm pretty new to internet shopping (after finally giving in to my bad back) and was dreading it but really pleased

Not used Asda but had a great experience with Waitrose online. Kudos where it's due, I say.

Impressed that the driver didn't do a T-Rex (you'll have to go thread-hunting for that one!) :)

ThisIsAUsername · 29/06/2012 10:30

YANBU. I have used it a few times and have never had a problem with it. Food always has a good shelf life and the delivery men are always cheerful and chatty.

whatlauradid · 29/06/2012 10:31

Asda were my first online shopping venture too and I was very very pleased. Would use them again but I don't do a lot of online shopping.

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 29/06/2012 10:32

I've used them a handful of times, no major problems. Although my last order had subbed an item on offer which meant I didn't get the offer, they rectified it when I phoned to whinge about less than a pound

Had a catsbum mouth off one driver when I refused a sub once though, because I didn't want a Nestle sub for my chocolate Grin

Morph2 · 29/06/2012 13:05

i've used them a few times. 2nd time van turned up then driver told me my shopping wasn't onboard, he rebooked for the next day. I phoned customer services to double check it was actually coming the next morning as he said as it meant waiting in with DS. Waited all morning, no show, phoned again and was told it had been booked for an evening delivery. Went mad on the phone as i'd waited in all morning speciially then got put through to the store. Someone ended up bringing the shopping out to me in a car as i said i needed the baby milk that was in the order urgently.

NinaHeart · 29/06/2012 13:11

I've just had a dreadful experience with Asda - non delivery one day, late the next day, no notifications, no returned phone calls, broken promises. I am livid with them.
I am thinking I will try either Sainsbury's or Ocado next.
Any views?

Olive28 · 29/06/2012 13:32

I'm afraid ASDA is the worst home delivery supermarket I've tried, but I expect they vary according to the local store that sorts out the order.

I found there were more mistakes and missing items by far with ASDA compared to Sainsburys and Tesco.

Also ASDA refused to bring our order when there was a small amount of snow here, because clearly it wouldn't be possible for them to drive in it - yet their solution was for us to drive to them and collect it Confused

Shutupanddrive · 29/06/2012 13:35

I will never use them again. They took my payment twice and took almost two weeks to refund it when I really needed it Angry

NoraHelmer · 29/06/2012 13:38

Nina - I could have posted exactly the same :(

No experience of Ocado as they don't deliver in our area but I can recommend Sainsbury's - I've used them loads of times and have only had one mishap when half the shopping was missing. Phoned them, they apologised immediately, gave me a refund for the missing stuff and a £10 voucher. Never had any more problems with them, and they have 1 hour slots so you don't have to wait too long.

Btw I still love shopping in Asda, just won't ever use their online shopping ever again.

NinaHeart · 29/06/2012 13:40

My cat was so distressed at the non appearance of the "meaty chunks man" (as the delivery man is known) that he (clearly thinking I would starve) went out and caught me a mouse.
Cat - 1 Asda - 0

stubbornstains · 29/06/2012 13:41

I've always found them to be great. Did have one arrive half an hour late the other day- "because Penzance is under water". Fair enough...

suburbandream · 29/06/2012 13:41

I haven't tried them, but am seriously fed up with Tesco - the last few times they've been really late and unapologetic, haven't sent txt to let me know about delays etc. I did use Ocado once as I had a money off voucher and they were very nice but the man spent sooooooo long explaining how it all worked and how the bags were colour-coded etc while I was smiling with gritted teeth thinking "just hand over the bloomin' food!!"

5inthebedPPA · 29/06/2012 13:44

I used to have a lovely Asda home delivery bloke, quite elderly, when I was pregnant with DS3 he insisted on unpacking my heavy stuff (tins and the like).

We moved though and a different store deliver, and they are crap.

SizzleSazz · 29/06/2012 13:45

'Alan' my Ocado delivery driver was very chipper at 6.30 the other morning. He wasn't even phased by my 3yr old running naked round the kitchen singing 'The Grand Old Duke of York' Grin

Never tried Asda.

Ocado have loads of introductory offers and usually free delivery late evening.

Inneedofbrandy · 29/06/2012 13:49

My Asda delivery is always on time and if any subs they are always in my favour ie instead of smartprice its name brand heheheh. Grin and my drivers are always really friendly and happy.

ErikNorseman · 29/06/2012 14:26

YABU because although they may be fine 95% of the time, when they go wrong they go really wrong. If you order online with asda ensure you have at least double the cost in your account and will not need the extra cash for at least 2 weeks. It's no biggie if you are well off or have an unused overdraft, but if you are on a tight budget then avoid asda delivery like the plague.

Flisspaps · 29/06/2012 14:34

YANBU, I fucking love my ASDA deliveries. Never had any of the weird subs and short dated stuff has a handwritten apology stuck to it and a replacement with a better date.

Ecgwynn · 29/06/2012 15:29

I like ASDA, they only cancelled once when we had a week of snow. Much cheaper than other supermarkets too.

ethelb · 29/06/2012 15:31

i've got one comeing tonight with a load of v important homeware stuff in it that I can't get through sainos. fingers crossed.

Had a shocker with Asda, where they left several bags in the van - noticed literally seconds after they left, called customer service who called the driver, who refused to turn round. He was at the bottom of the road Hmm

It was New Years Eve and this was the bag with milk, bread etc. Sigh.

Waitrose definitely best but a little pricey.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 29/06/2012 21:29

I've generally found them pretty good. Sometimes they mess up, weird substitutions, not honouring offers etc. So I check the list really carefully, email them if I'm out of pocket (which tbh I usually am, although only for a couple of quid) - but they always refund.

Having said that, tonight there were 12 "not availables" in my shopping. Difficult, hard to substitute things like tinned tuna, sweetcorn, squash and chocolate. Driver was apologetic and has said everyone's shopping has been the same. I reckon the pickers are having an attack of Can't Be Arsed. But it's annoying, because it means I'll have to go to shops again at some point. Can't go a whole week without chocolate.

ethelb · 29/06/2012 21:30

They have 30 mins to turn up with my tortilla chips! Watching crap film with dh

Joiningthegang · 29/06/2012 21:43

Just had a tesco one - no complaints at all. Love waitrose delivery, ocado ok but sainsburys is one I won't repeat!
