I know everyone goes on about them but I've just had a big shop delivered, 2 subs, both very sensible and in my favour

delivery man was very pleasant and helpful

they get a lot of criticism but I'm pretty new to internet shopping (after finally giving in to my bad back) and was dreading it but really pleased

I've only used them twice.

Each time they've been brilliant with their time keeping, and the driver has been excellent - really nice and friendly.

BUT the first time they gave me egg mayo (yes ready made, snobs) that went out of date that day, and the other time they missed something off my list altogether.

They resolved both really quickly though, no quibble.

SkipTheLightFanjango · 29/06/2012 21:56

Asda were late delivering today...by 7 minutes, the delivery driver even phoned half an hour earlier to apologise that he would be about 5 minutes late Shock. They are fab round here, on time (if you can allow todays 5 mins), helpful and great subs!

MissMogwi · 29/06/2012 21:57

I used to say the same but then ASDA just didn't deliver my shopping, and took ten days to give my money back. The customer service centre couldn't give a feck either. No response to my emails or calls whatsoever.

I have used Ocado when they send me vouchers, but now I mostly use Sainsbo's for online shopping. They have yet to let me down.

WhiteWidow · 29/06/2012 22:34

MissMogwi that's really strange. I rang up, on a Sunday, and spoke to someone straight away. Was issued a refund there and then without any questions, that turned up in my account less than 3 days later.
Also when I've emailed them, although they've not been as quick but they do state that beforehand, it's been reasonable.

Was it the main online groceries number you rang?

ethelb · 29/06/2012 22:49

The fuckers are an hour late. Tits

ethelb · 29/06/2012 22:58

We made dips for our chips and everything and they are not here!

How to get a refund?

Never had an order not turn up before.

MissMogwi · 29/06/2012 22:59

Yep WhiteWidow. They really took the piss. The money was held in a ghost payment thingy and they couldn't release it any quicker. I came on here moaning about it and we shared our hateful ASDA tales.

I sent a ranty email to head office and rang them to complain but heard nothing back.

Ethel we have jinxed you. Sorry Grin

cheesesarnie · 29/06/2012 23:01

tescos and asda have both been shit on occasion when i've used them.

my lovely waitrose man calls me 'mam' and offers me storage and cooking advice.

i heart my waitrose man Grin

ethelb · 29/06/2012 23:05

You lot have jinxed me. Whole Guildford area experiencing delays. The thing us ghat I have been told the van has left. But I am tierd and I want to have sex uninterrupted by asda man!

AfternoonDelight · 30/06/2012 00:27

I know everyone seems to hate Tesco here, but I bloody love them. I always seem to get substitutions in my favour (had a particularly nice run of ordering coffee that they never had so they'd give me a bigger version for the same price) and the delivery men have always been helpful.

On the other hand, Asda decided not to deliver nappies, wipes, baby food or formula over a bank holiday the one time I used them. Left me screwed as we didn't have a car at the time, so had to send DP to Co-op and pay twice as much. Didn't ever use them again!

PinkPepper · 30/06/2012 00:39

I've never had a bad experience with any delivery, and used tesco, asda, and ocado. I normally cycle between whose offering best money off and they are all pretty much the same. Prefer ocado because can order so last min and round here always get a free delivery slot, but the drivers are all as nice and never had any bad substitutions really

usualsuspect · 30/06/2012 00:42

I think Asda home delivery is fab tbh.

Shullbit · 30/06/2012 01:05

I have only ever once ordered a delivery online with ASDA. They turned up with all my stuff, on time, and although I had only ordered 1 bottle of wine, because they didn't have that one in, I got 3, yes THREE, other bottles of decent wine as a replacement so I wasn't complaining. Obviously.

Only ever time I have used online shopping though, as I had buggered my knee up and couldn't drive there myself. I much prefer picking my own groceries than having someone else choose them for me.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 30/06/2012 02:27

The only problem i have had with Asda in about 3ish years is the twice i forgot they were coming and had gone out Blush Both times they re delivered at the end of the evening, no extra cost! The subs are always in my favour one way or another (but then i do buy mostly asda own so usually get branded as sub..) and i usually refuse them and they leave the sub and refund the price of the product...

Bloody love ASDA! Grin

BabyDubsEverywhere · 30/06/2012 02:28

Actually one sub was shit...
Ordered satsumas for the DC
Recieved..... Smart price mushrooms... they were not happy with their lunch boxes that week Grin

Flobbadobs · 30/06/2012 09:34

My Asda deliveries are always fab. They turn up on time, always polite, no weird subs and seeing as I have anything from one baby to 4 mad children around the house when they turn up are really patient, giving the kids bags to take in etc.
I've got a Waitrose voucher code to use for free delivery but the website drives me nuts!

ethelb · 30/06/2012 09:42

Well great for you lot.

Just got off the phone from asda who said they did turn up at 11 and decided not to knock as it didn't look like we were in. We live in a bloody block if flats.

I said that we wanted to cancel the order and they said we couldn't as the store had already decided to cancel
Our order last night. Tits.

Ocado and asda online off the list then.

threetequilafloor · 30/06/2012 10:06

I think it depends on the store, I know I can't order yogurts as the dates are always rubbish, and if I order Wine on 3 for £10 they always seem to sub one so I get charged full price for it all and have to phone up. I hate having to phone and complain so just don't order these things.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 30/06/2012 12:09

threetequila - they always sub me a wine as well, which means you don't get the offer and have to pay more. I think it might be a policy! However they do refund, and you don't have to ring, I do it via email.

Gibbous · 30/06/2012 12:53

I have used all four and have been pleased with them all to be fair. Use Asda more as it has the preferred cat food and lunchbox juice carton options, rather than because it's particularly cheaper (I think if you shop for the offers the big three all work out very similar).

Aaaaanyway fussy teen and cats aside, the big three were all much of a muchness except that Tesco text you (at least in my area) on the day when they know more of a specific time they will be arriving and keep texting you as that is updated so eventually you get it within the quarter of an hour, which is why I will probably go with them in future and the DS and cats can go thirsty/hungry I will source fussy eaters' provisions separately.

Waitrose were definitely the loveliest though, and can work out cheaply if their offers and your requirements match up, particularly as they give you stuff free if it's approaching its sell by date, delivery is free over £50 and when I did my first shop with them they were doing £20 off over £100 and 25% off a case of wine on top of the regular existing reductions when I was restocking the rack.

I have had a massive 30-day aged fillet steak from Asda for the price of a scrawny ribeye due to a sub and a favourable branded washing powder for own brand too. During one Asda shop several items were not delivered but you can apply for the refund online which is so easy and it is put through very quickly.

I have to say, surprisingly, that Sainsbury's is the only one without any USPs for me personally.

lottiegb · 30/06/2012 13:14

In my long experience they are good and the staff always very pleasant, so Yanbu.

Ocado are nice too, sainsbury's were surly and useless.

There have been occasional mistakes in the accounting, do always worth checking the receipt. They always refund when they should, including if something arrives a bit squashed or, as recently, when a yoghurt exploded I got the contents of that bag free, even though everything else was in plastic so undamaged.

The price check thing is good and they often do a £5 off next shop thing. Their prices are lower than elsewhere anyway.
