YABU - according to this reliable source, you should never put a soup spoon in your mouth, but sip it from sideways. So some slurping is inevitable! Grin

TheSpokenNerd · 03/07/2012 22:21

Yanbu. And I can't cope with people who slurp tea or coffee. I was in a queue at a charity shop yesterday and one assistant was tidying shelves and drinking tea periodically.

Angry

She went Slurrrrp....slurrrrrp...AAAAHHHHH! every few fecking seconds and she was moments away from getting it tipped on her head.

TheSpokenNerd · 03/07/2012 22:22

No no Madam no need to slurp! You TIP it in...easy! No slurp needed. If its hot you frigging wait a second to drink it!

TheSpokenNerd · 03/07/2012 22:23

BUt WHY Kotinka WHY???? Do you have an oral problem of some kind?

Mrsjay · 03/07/2012 22:23

YANBU they should be poked in the eye with the hot end of the spoon !!

Nagoo · 03/07/2012 22:25

Yanbu, and shooting's too good for them.

They should be made into soup, and slurped by the general public.

QueenStromba · 03/07/2012 22:44

And next in line are the scrape-scrape-scrape-scrapers of yoghurt pots.

It's spoons clattering and scraping against cereal bowls that makes my eye twitch attractively.

Valpollicella · 03/07/2012 23:24

Oh the clattering!

Although I raise the clattering with forks banging against teeth.

I'd quite cheerfully remove the fork from their mouths and onsert it up their jacksie

MoonshineBubbleGum · 04/07/2012 05:16

You are definatly NOT being unreasonable. I hate slurping, slapping noises when people are eating and people who gulp their drinks. Drives me mad!

Thumbwitch · 04/07/2012 05:31

What IslaValargeone said. My first reaction on reading your title.

(on a side note, just "got" Isla's name Blush - brilliant!)

Knives scraping across china plates makes me very angry as well. And people who eat with their mouths open

kickassangel · 04/07/2012 05:38

Eating with the mouth open is just gross

Thumbwitch · 04/07/2012 05:44

It so is - there used to be a girl in my senior school, who sat on my dinner table, who did this. It kept the rest of us thin - we could barely eat while she was there

Moominsummermadness · 04/07/2012 06:05

I hate noisy eating/ drinking! Tea/coffee/soup slurping, people putting more food in their mouths than they can chew, so they do that heavy-breathing thing, eating with their mouths open, talking with their mouths full, and loudly sucking their fingers-a woman at work was eating chocolate cake the other day- she must have sucked each finger in turn about 4 times-ffs, get a bloody fork!

nightswimmer · 04/07/2012 06:20

Ha ha Nagoo, that's excellent. Well slurping and scraping and open mouth eating is horrid, but, how about sniffing? Loud gutteral sniffing without bothering to blow your nose, never mind the fact the fact that you're an adult. That is horrible horrible horrible horrible and should be outlawed.

LoopyFuckbadger · 04/07/2012 07:42

Mrsjay - me too! My DH gets really annoyed with me covering my ears / playing music when he eats (often back late from work), but I can't bear eating noises. Most people are OK, but some are really loud, especially when you're not eating yourself. The worst noises are:

  1. Swallowing / gulping / slurping - 'wet' noises
  2. Cutlery banging teeth
  3. Crunching

Feel sick just typing that Envy
So, OP, YADNBU!!!!
