There is nothing worse than people who slurp soup and tea. Were they taught manners as children? OP YADNBU

PorkyandBess · 04/07/2012 10:41

Yy to finger sucking, scraping out yoghurts and any scraping of the last remnants of food. grrrrr.

I can't bear any noisiness when eating or clashing of cutlery on teeth, or open mouthed eating, or drinking when there is food in the mouth. I could go on and on and on.

I have ruined my children; they now notice other diners bad table manners in restaurants Blush

I hate, possibly more than anything, when people eat a spoonful of ice cream and bring the spoon out of their mouths with ice cream still on it, usually in a rounded shape. This makes me want to heave.

YANBU. Also for the list: People loudly crunching the free prawn crackers you get while you're waiting for your food in Chinese restaurants!

My friend came over from a European country where it is polite to slurp. One evening we had soup, and by the end of it I could have taken her spoon, bent it round and strangled her with it! The most annoying noise (except my brother's mindless whistling).

TodaysAGoodDay · 04/07/2012 11:41

And my SIL smacks her lips with every mouthful. It's enough to drive you mad!

Stonefield · 04/07/2012 15:23

Oh my god! Some food is noisy no matter how genteelly you eat it. And there's nothing wrong with cleaning your plate or enjoying your yoghurt. I admit I don't slurp my soup though.
At least we don't eat like Americans who seem unable to use a knife and fork together. How crass!

What really sets my teeth on edge is when someone comes onto a train with a milkshake in a poystyrene container, which they slurp through a straw. The most exquisite agony is reserved for the end when the slurping gets louder as they try to such up the last drop.
