That's about it really - just wanted to know.

Nothing and nothing

Never spoken to them tbh

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 17/06/2012 19:46

Asked me out on a date. We're getting married in 3 months!

PatheticTrumpet · 17/06/2012 19:57

Well for me - I am the good neighbour .. Always taking in parcels, been there in an emergency for childcare when neighbour has gone into labor. Twice.

She in the other hand has stabbed me in the back on numerous occasions - wibu in telling her "don't bite the hand that feeds you ..... You cow!"?

EASY! Best thing - my ex-neighbour who had 3 children of her own did my washing and washing up for 3 days WITHOUT BEING ASKED after my 2nd child was born and DP could not get time off work.
Worst thing - my heroin addicted neighbours at a previous address broke into my flat 3 times to steal from me and also barefacedly tried to borrow money "for baby food".

thepeoplesprincess · 17/06/2012 19:58

Nowt and nowt.

WitchOfEndor · 17/06/2012 20:01

Not mine but my DMs neighbour, washes her car for her and if he spots odd jobs that need doing he will do them ( fixed her birdhouse when it blew over etc ). She always has a sweetie for their DCs though and lets them in to rifle through her house see her cat although she now has to keep the front door locked or they let themselves in

lechatnoir · 17/06/2012 20:07

At our last house we had a lovely family next door & we'd feed each others cats when we were away. when we got back from the last holiday we came home and notice things look slightly 'off' turns out my nieghbour decided to clean the house & do my ironing 'to help you out'. Can't quite decide whether this comes under best or worst thing Confused

Iamnotamindreader · 17/06/2012 20:08

Best was babysitting DS1 while I went into premature labour with DS2.

Worst was weeing in petrol tank.

Different neighbours obviously.

Iamnotamindreader · 17/06/2012 20:08

*was in premature labour

JumpingThroughHoops · 17/06/2012 20:09

Love my neighbours. Tho' they have an obsession with my trees and keep asking if its ok to trim them - I come home and they are stumps! Hey ho! They feed the cat

trixymalixy · 17/06/2012 20:11

Our lovely current neighbour, got up on our roof and fixed it for us when it was leaking while we were on holiday.

Our previous neighbour was a complete loon and we have a massive list of mad stuff she did including taking our garden furniture from our bit of the garden and leaving it in the lane behind the house for anyone to take!!!

AmIthatbad · 17/06/2012 20:12

During the really bad winter last year, my brand new neighbour, who had just moved in, appeared by my side as I was digging my drive out, and she got stuck in and we did it together. I thought that was so lovely of her.

My neighbour on the other side, though, moved in and without even speaking to me, I came home and found that they had ripped out the hedge between our front gardens, leaving my front door open to the elements and very, very open plan. He then "told" me the next day, that he was taking down the fence between our back gardens and replacing it (it was my fence!!!) and did I mind. I had to reply that he had given me no choice, since he had someone coming to do it but at least he had the decency to mention it to me first.

Best - climbed across the roofs barefoot when I locked myself out and the only window which was open was the skylight into my bedroom.

Worst - were wanted by the police who one evening ran through my house en masse because they thought they were hiding in my (very small) garden whilst I was feeing a baby and a toddler.

Different neighbours btw Grin

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 17/06/2012 20:14

Best - have babysat for us, including overnight on 2 occasions.

Wosrt (different house, and not exactly "to me") - Domestic Violence (I rang police)

vincettenoir · 17/06/2012 20:14

Chased off burglars / hung out our washing / made us chutney. We have lovely neighbours.

GreatBallsofFluff · 17/06/2012 20:15

My neighbour always cuts my grass for me (probably because it is always a right mess Blush ) and built me a lovely fence and does odd jobs and even emergency babysitting when my grandad was ill. we have been next door neighbours for 20 years and I couldn't ask for better neighbours. Even my next door neighbour on the other side is always offering to babysit and never complains about noise if i have friends over. I know i am sooo lucky to have them as my neighbours

Sittinginthesun · 17/06/2012 20:16

My old next door neighbour was/is like an uncle to our family. When we lived next door, he would bring my washing in when it rained, let me use his line as well. Bring me veg from his garden. Lent me his car for a week when my was in the garage... He is a star!

In fact, I'm going to phone him right now for a chat... Grin

MaureenMLove · 17/06/2012 20:16

My neighbours have never done anything bad! They are the perfect neighbours and have become friends over the years. I have childminded all 3 of their children at some point and we all socialize together. They really are great people to live next door to.

Chesterado · 17/06/2012 20:19

Best - feed and cuddle the cat whilst we are away and play with dd whilst we unpack shopping from car (current neighbours in lovely friendly street)

Worst - watch porn all day even though we can could see directly into their living room and their tv (old neighbours in dodgy London flat)!

PoppyWearer · 17/06/2012 20:20

Best - emergency childcare when I was taken ill, until family arrived.

Worst - changed their garden radically (ripped down their trees), impacting ours directly, mere days after we had spent £500 on new plants on the same side of the garden and supposedly "finished" landscaping it. We then had to make a whole load of changes very quickly and find a load more money to sort it out so they couldn't see my DH in his pants in the kitchen.

leftangle · 17/06/2012 20:21

Our current ones lent DH a heavy electrical bit of stonebreaking equipment when they saw him struggling - and we hardly knew them. Also fixed a sewage leak for us recently. And a previous neighbour who gave us his newspapers when he'd read them saving us a bomb.

Nothing really bad - the guy who left a skip in our parking space for several weeks and then hit the roof when we used his probably the worst.

Best waS being on hand when dd1 aged 7 took a nasty tumble off her bike and injuring herself. She was hysterical. I was hysterical and 8 months pg. Neighbour and her daughter who are nurses kept us all calm and patched dd up. We are not close neighbours. We just chat over kid garden fence now and again but that certainly broke ice

Worst. Hmm. My old house had terrible neighbours, not same ones but same house. Ranging from child neglect, out of control dog, extremely noisy sex, love music and attempted murder that was all over the local paper. Very lively!
