...and cuddle my baby instead of doing the housework? He's 5mo, so not exactly brand new, but i'm having a blue day and I want to sit here and hold my sleeping baby, not clear up all the crockery and wash my bra. This is reasonable, right? Sh will probably not mins and just clear up when he comes back from work, but that makes me feel more guilty

Do it! No one will think any less.!

Moodykat · 13/06/2012 16:28

Babies don't keep!

TrinityIsAFuckingRhino · 13/06/2012 16:28

when you no longer have a 'babe in arms' you won't regret not having cleared up more but you might regret not just holding and smelling him more Smile

give yourself a break and relax Smile

Callisto · 13/06/2012 16:30

Never feel guilty for cuddling rather than cleaning. Enjoy your baby because this time goes so very fast.

PandaWatch · 13/06/2012 16:30

YANBU

Slightly different scenario but my DB that that I shouldn't be carrying, cuddling, hugging and loving my beautiful darling nephew as he's to old now.

My response is that soon he will no longer want cuddles from his Auntie or he'll be to damn heavy to pick up and carry and I need to make the most of it whilst I can.

So carry on and snuggle away, enjoy!

Snowboarder · 13/06/2012 16:39

I spent the first 6 months of DS's life holding him while he napped. He was very premature and slept ALOT during that time. I did occasionally think I should put him down and get on with something more constructive but now I'm glad I did it that way.

DS is now 14 months and I am due at the end of next month with DS2 and I am a bit sad that I will probably be too busy to spend all day holding and snuggling with him but I'm glad I got to do it once.

YA definitely NBU!!!

Enjoy it whilst you can. It's a cliché but you can't get that time back and as soon as they are mobile (like my DS is now) they won't want to be snuggled for hours anymore either Sad

PandaWatch · 13/06/2012 16:39

fruity remember for the future that just because DNs don't want cuddles doesn't mean they shouldn't get them Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/06/2012 16:42

He's sticking his bottom out and his soft wispy blonde hair is hot and damp under my cheek. I luffs him.

TrinityIsAFuckingRhino · 13/06/2012 16:43

awwwww Smile

fruitysummer · 13/06/2012 16:46

Panda yes, I have another DN, who although he loves his cuddles from his Mum and Nana is not so fussed about getting them from me Shock

He still gets them though - it's become a bit of a game which is our special thing so it's still nice. he has however realised that aunty fruity is a proper pushover where her beloved neices and nephews are concerned and can always be relied on to get wrapped round small fingers

Snowboarder · 13/06/2012 16:47

Aaah, that's going to be me again in 6 weeks.

Pandemoniaa · 13/06/2012 16:50

Forget the domesticity! Revel in the joy of a lovely baby. As people have said, you don't get this time again. Or not for a good while (speaks as besotted grandmother!).

borninastorm · 13/06/2012 16:58

Ds2 is 2 now and I still cuddle instead of clean (house is always a mess Smile)
Ds1 is 18 and that happened far too quickly.
Enjoy this time with your baby it's so precious.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/06/2012 17:03

I love you all. I am enjoying this cuddle so much more for it being guilt free. And I did hang the sheets out first... Shame I didn't put the clean ones on, but oh well!

Never feel guilty about a cuddle, it's the most important job you'll ever do and one that is never wasted.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/06/2012 17:30

I still cuddle my 18 mo instead of doing housework. She is growing out of her baby phase and I have to sniff her as much as I can now. Besides, house get dirty again but you can't uncuddle a baby.

Anchorwoman · 13/06/2012 17:36

I am cuddling sleeping 12 wk dd right now. Dh back in 15 mins and there is no tea, ds is watching tv and washing up needs doing.

Am I going to move into action? Not after reading this thread I'm not - I am now guilt free by proxy!

Enjoy it makescakes, I know just how you're feeling.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/06/2012 17:39

We can shake on it Anchor, if only our hands weren't so full of baby :)

WorraLiberty · 13/06/2012 17:40

Enjoy it while you can!

I've just thought, there's going to be a whole generation of babies who can't slip without hearing the sound of mobile phone keys being pressed Grin
