And leave that to ITV and Sky.

Good ye Fearne and Tess dead behind the eyes, both of you.

This is to all channels/shows - stop repeating chunks of the episode after ad breaks/section breaks. We don't have short term memory problems and you look like you've made a cheap, padded out programme (which you have). Very very annoying.

TroublesomeEx · 06/06/2012 17:04

Here here.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 06/06/2012 17:05

Yes yes yes to Ivana.

Homes Under the Hammer, I'm looking at you

PrincessLayercake · 06/06/2012 17:05

Another plea - please desist from whacking on a voice-over track to repeat WORD FOR WORD what we, the moderately intelligent viewers, have just heard.

For example - Dragon's Den:
Theo - I'll offer you half of what you want for a 25% equity stake
Ewan Thingy (voice over) Theo has offered half of what crazy-inventor-guy wants for a 25% stake in the company.

I agree Cocky. The BBC is really not great at the moment. I didn't watch loads of stuff at the weekend but DS insisted on watching a bit.

It wasn't good. In fact I found a lot of it a bit of a cringe fest. It just came across as a lot of unprepared presenters who really didn't have a grasp of their subject.

Whoever was commentating in the church didn't seem to recognise very many people. Wouldn't you swot up before a big event? I don't know as I know nothing about television or how it works behind the scenes.

I don't watch TV, but the BBC News website has definitely dumbed down.

A couple of days ago, when Prince Phillip was admitted to hospital, it had a big story with several sub-stories underneath, one of which was 'Bladder infection: Q&A' and which was full of questions like 'What is a bladder infection?' 'Is it life threatening?' etc.

FGS.

CockyPants · 06/06/2012 18:14

Even BBC news full of bimbos who nod and shrug shoulders for no apparent reason. All the correspondents do it too...WHY?
Jubilee coverage was rubbish too.

OP posts:
HmmThinkingAboutIt · 06/06/2012 18:32

I blame the One Show for everything.

diabolo · 06/06/2012 18:36

I think Sky News has been superior to the BBC and ITV for some time now. Apart from Eamon Holmes, I like their presenters, the whole set up really.

Sky's Jubilee coverage was far better than the Beeb (though that wouldn't be difficult).

Meglet · 06/06/2012 18:41

BBC Breakfast has dumbed down IMO. I wonder if it's trying to win over the remaining Daybreak viewers (is that even still going?).

I'm veering back towards Radio 4 in the morning.

AnyoneforTurps · 06/06/2012 18:46

Even the Today programme does it. Please stop.

And stop thanking each other all the time. Half of each news programme is taken up with presenters and correspondents reciting their long-winded titles (who cares?) then incessantly thanking each other.

flexybex · 06/06/2012 18:53

Ummmmm....... they've had to cut costs by 20% and have been told to keep the licence fee the same......
The licence fee hasn't gone up that much since the 80s.

The evil Daily Mail is doing its work.

CockyPants · 06/06/2012 18:53

BBC programmes I'd like to get shut of.
All daytime output.
Anne Robinson.
All the stupid quizzes.
Fearne Cotton.
Sara Cox. Everyone on radio 1 apart from Chris Moyles because his stupidity is hilarious.
All detective police programmes.
All the reality stuff. Traffic police grime beaters who gives a shiny shit??
Top Gear past it's sell by night.
In the fucking night garden.
The one Show. Bag of utter shite.
Sorry, getting sweary. Can't believe they charge us to watch or hear this shit.
Oh, and Ken Bruce. Chunt. The h is silent.
Bring back kath and Kim!!

OP posts:
CockyPants · 06/06/2012 18:56

BBC one saving grace is Cbeebies. The only pre school tv that is worth watching.
Disney and CITV utter shite

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2012 19:03

YY to Kath and Kim!

Keep SCD but get rid of Brucie.
Keep Doctors so I can still post on the Doctors WTF thread. Grin
Get Gareth Malone to do lots more TV
Keep Homes Under the Hammer

Get rid of

The One Show including Matt Baker and Alex Jones
Fearne Cotton and Tess Daly
Casualty
The Voice
Eastenders
All quiz shows
Dominic 'conshoomer' Littlewood
Crap in the Attic and all other Antique crap.
Escape to the Country (cos they never bloody buy anything)

Oh and the Apprentice is a big yawnfest now.

FunnyLittleFrog · 06/06/2012 19:05

Agree with most of this but...

Cbeebies Smile

Radio 6 Music Grin Grin

Worth the licence fee for those two alone.

CockyPants · 06/06/2012 19:54

Yup Funny Frog.

Eastenders must die. What a load of wank.

OP posts:
sarahseashell · 06/06/2012 19:58

YANBU but possibly about 10 years too late...

Madsometimes · 06/06/2012 20:04

YANBU. Brian Cox has either got to go, or to make less dumbed down programmes too. He's a smart guy, so why the shots of him doing wistful looks and standing on mountains in far flung expensive corners of the globe, when he could be explaining proper science.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 06/06/2012 20:09

Zukie - me too! But HATE the re-cap bits... where they remind us of who bought what, how much they paid, what they do for a living complete with "appropriate" cheesey pop-song (again) a mere 9 MINUTES since we last watched...!!!

Nobhead · 06/06/2012 20:14

Dear Beeb bring back Alan Partridge and The Day Today.

AnyoneforTurps · 06/06/2012 20:55

they've had to cut costs by 20% and have been told to keep the licence fee the same......
The licence fee hasn't gone up that much since the 80s

Then they should stop wasting money on useless celebs - proper journalists are cheaper and better.

TroublesomeEx · 06/06/2012 21:31

Yep.

Horrible Histories is about the most intelligent thing on the BBC at the moment.
