Wasn't so much the dumbing down as the simpering sycophantic fawning.

Please please could they ditch the 'abstracts' on every documentary series where the presenter spends 10 minutes telling you all about the series in every single episode (and giving away all the best bits ). If I'm watching a series about The Romans, I know it will be about... ...er... The Romans (every single episode of it).

...on the Wekend (hit return too early). But the difference between Radio 4 and BBC TV 1 now is huge too.
