When/how exactly did Alan T make the transfer from Gardens to Royal Correspondent?

I'm absolutely loving it! So wonderful... So interesting to see a young Philip and a young Charles - so much resemblance between Harry and William respectively.

He's getting really emotional, bless him... Crown

It's also a bit of social history.
I was born in 1956 and so not far in age and the old cine films brought back so many memories, my dad used to take them, I'd love to see them again.
They did seem like a happy family.

I really don't know, I was thinking out loud really. Similar time period,, same sense of duty-made me wonder.

I would imagine that she was advised not to take the children because of the disruption, but who knows.

I do sometimes wonder though if a king had gone off for that time if people would be so bothered.

I liked the answer from the Princess Royal, when asked if (as only female child) the Queen was a particularly strong role model, and she said something along the lines of 'I have to e refuel here, as I don't think I've ever fitted in to the expected role'

That was a lovely programme! Didn't see it all, will have to look at iplayer. Loved Prince Charles' chuckle! Watching ITV now - they seem like a very loving family, not how I imagined them at all.

'There is no strangeness between us, and we behave as if we have belonged to each other for years' just quoted from one of the Queen's letters (to her mother) about Prince Phillip. That's just brilliant. Crown

I have a sneaking fondness for all the pomp and ceremony of royal gubbins and really enjoyed that programme! DH huffed when I switched to it and said 'just ten minutes then'. We both watched it to the end and he enjoyed it just as much as me Grin

Nice to see Charles as a little baby rolling about on the sofa - our DS could have stood in for those shots!!

I have always loved prince Phillip.

How earnest she was in those letters to her mother.

D'you think the Queen's watching this and cringing at her letters being read out?

What a nice thread!

And may one just say this - A bucket of boiling goat's piss on the Royal haterz Grin. Why don't you all just STFU for five minutes and let everyone enjoy this if they wish. You may resume your ranting on Wednesday. Thank you.
