She was only 22 when she had him. She looked so young in the early shots.

If only we'd seen some of this footage years ago.

The water slide on Britannia is amazing.

Gosh, I'd never realised she was so young. I'm 22 now Shock

The Britannia had a water slide? That is fucking great. See they should have just let tony have a go. I'm sure he would have agreed to the refurb if he'd tried the built in water slide.

It's bloody brilliant! Changing my view that Queen was a cold mother, Charles clearly adores her. She must have done something right.

YADNBU. It's so lovely and they seem so normal behind the scenes! Loved the footage of Trooping The Colour and Queenie letting her gracious smile slip once she was back inside Buckingham Palace and looking bloody exhausted Grin

It's lovely, and ds (4) is completely besotted with the queen. Have had to promise him we'll watch the rest in the morning. never been a fan of the royals but watching charles so happy reliving his childhood makes me all fuzzy inside.

I'm enjoying it too, particularly listening to Charles chuckling at the footage Crown Grin

It's fascinating to watch, def changes the way we view them.

I love that Margaret isn't all dressed up prim and proper, and they all play the same

I loved the footage of the queen and queen mother pushing the pram up the hill whilst singing and hiding.

Oh I love it.

Her walking up the hill with the pram and playing around, and just the general normalness of it is lovely.

I bet I cry this weekend. In fact I bet I cry in the next half hour.

i am definitely no royalist.

it is however interesting watching charles watch his home movies. he is human then?

i cant quite get it - he married a 19 year old girl that he didnt love and turned her into a very mentally ill woman.
because it was expected of him.
because his family expected it.
what sort of family does that though really?? bunch of fricking weirdos. and i say that as a person from the most dysfunctional family ever....seems we have much in common.

Interesting that he thinks one of the greatest things in HMQ's reign was the developments in UK /RoI relations which meant the Queen could visit (especially in juxtaposition to Lord Mountbatten's death).

Why the 'is Charles
Human?' comment?

He does so much for the young people in this country with the princes trust and is so passionate about his interests I find him very human
