"The Quuen was punching a over her weight, looks wise, in marrying Prince Philip"

Rubbish! The Queen was a stunner in her youth.

I'm not saying that she was not attractive just that pp was better looking than her jeesh. I'm not bashing the queen.

Yes but PP was absolutely SKINT in his youth and his family were in exile. I read he had one shirt which he had to wash out every night when he stayed at people's country piles. He hasn't had to do that since he proposed!

i do wonder if it was as much as a love match for him as for her, HM was clearly besotted with him.

I've often wondered too Mrs Bucket (or is it pronounced Bouquet?) Smile

I think they genuinely like each other though.

I mean, there still seems to be a warm bond and he makes her laugh, but yeah, she was besotted all right.

Oh yes indeed- did you see him leering at Carla Bruni Sarkozy that time? He was like a cat that's found a mouse.

Really, what a pointless, nasty thread. Of course he is charle's son.

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 21:51

MrsBucketxx · 30/05/2012 21:53

OP, you're totally wrong. He does look like Charles. In fact he looks more like Charles than William does, and what's more he looks like Prince Philip too.

Diana met James Hewitt two years after Harry was born.

I think if you saw this pic without knowing who these two are, you might well say doesn't the son look just like his dad?

Prince Philip might have been poor - but he was a Prince of Greece, so pretty good breeding there! Infact, aren't he and the Queen third cousins or something?

Report
CaveMum · 31/05/2012 08:16

Prince Philip is the oldest living great-great grandchild of Queen Victoria, being descended from Victoria's daughter Princess Alice.

The Queen is also a great-great grandchild of Queen Victoria, being descended from Victoria's son King Edward VI.

According to Wikipedia, in 1993 they used some of Prince Philip's DNA to help to identify the remains of Empress Alexandra of Russia and her family, as she was also descended from Princess Alice of England.
