To wonder why Kate doesn't wear Diana's jewellry

Am I the only one wondering why Kate often goes with minimal or no jewellry when Camilla is dripping with them, and wondering what happened to all Diana's lovely jewels and why they haven't been handed down to Kate.
Is it because it has all gone to Camilla or is it because it all went to the butler, or is it because Kate/William doesn't like wearing jewellry?

I think about this all the time. It keeps me up at night.

The engagement ring I can understand. I get the point of all the synmbol of a disastrous marriage / dead person' comments but of course William wouldn't think of it that was - it is a huge compliment to Kate to give her his mother's ring, and it speaks highly of her that she wasn't going to demand something else and would understand that. I think the thing is that wearing more of Diana's jewellry, though would make her look obsessed with 'replacing' Diana and non-one - Kate, William or the other Royals - would want that.

Interesting though about Harry - bet Chelsy would wear some of the blingier items Wink

CruCru - Please buy yourself a tiara to wear at home.

I have an Elvis wig i sometimes wear to relax in.

It makes me feel special.

Alistair Really? That's so cool. Yep, will get on it.

My Mil wears a tiara whenever possible (in a fun way)

Ettiquette says that tiaras are for married people so maybe mor epeople should wear them day to day

I'm still bemused by the fact that Diana's death "affected the entire nation" - as said by someone ^^!

Err, no, not really.

I was more affected by the death of a young friend of my DCs actually. It still comes into my head now.

I didn't know Diana - her death didn't affect me at all other than on a general level of "Oh that's very sad. What a shame". That was on the day the news broke. Beyond that I had my own life to be getting on with.

McHappyPants2012 · 01/06/2012 00:27

Diana death did bother me they cancelled all the cartoons on tv

CruCru · 01/06/2012 08:21

bronze I think tiaras should be resurrected as a standard piece of jewellery. They could become like big funky earrings and dress up any outfit. Not sure how it would fly at work though, some of my clients might think it doesn't go with a grey skirt suit.

Sadly, poor old Kate could never hope to copy Diana's unique style. <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=diana+emerald+headband&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=885&tbm=isch&tbnid=E93-UiE2Ij_vhM:&imgrefurl=blog.ice.com/the-list/3-royal-emerald-jewelry-favorites/&docid=QUXbyolI_L3ueM&imgurl=blog.ice.com/wp-content/princess-diana-choker-headband1.jpg&w=327&h=347&ei=AnLIT_2HFo_Z8gPGmpDRDw&zoom=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Take this new twist on a boring old necklace for example Wink

I agree with Salmotrutta. It didn't affect the entire nation. Quite a few people got very tearful and hopped on the nearest train with a bunch of flowers but an awful lot just got on with life as normal.

I'm not saying her death had no impact at all on me but I was a bit meh about it all and I remember being bemused by the response of the public.

As far as the jewels go - I wouldn't wear them unless they were part of the Queen's collection of hand me downs from other royals. Anything Diana had been given by her rich fanbase I'd probably sell for charity if it hadn't been left to the Spencers

She does have some lovely jewellery though. Her mother had her earrings made that she wore on her wedding day, and I remember reading an article that said that some earring she wore on the north america tour were some of Diana's that had been reset in a more modern way.
The Queen also lent her some things for that tour - brooch etc.

Diana was actually Princess of Wales when she got married, going to loads of state functions etc, so of course she wore more jewellery.

Surely it is more traditional that a woman has jewellery from her own family when she is young/first married? I don't see it as Charles and Camilla's place to be buying her baubles, how weird would that be? My PILs don't buy me jewellery, nor would I expect them too.
Besides, can you imagine the outcry if she was wandering around with £100k+ of new jewels on??

perhaps she just doesnt like it. I had quite alot of jewellry from my mother when she died as well as my grandmother - I have never worn a single bit because its just not my style.
