Sorry but I just don't care! I don't want tbe hassle of being taken over by all this.

My office was already taken over sharing lifts with olympics workers. Now I dread getting to hospital for a c/s in central London on the day of the opening ceremony.

Yanbu, I'm nowhere near london at all and I'm sick of Olympics this, that and the other. An MNer I chat to lives right near the olympic stadium and apparently the olympic staff(?) have been asking if people that live close by would rent their homes out to people coming to watch the games Shock

ElizabethPonsonby · 14/05/2012 14:04

No interest here, I will be otherwise engaged as my due date for DC2 is 17th July Grin and I have plenty of DVD box sets to be getting on with!!

ishopthereforeiam · 14/05/2012 14:06

It's mental isn't it?!

We are not that close to the stadium, about 20 mins on tube but we were asked to rent our flat out for nearly four times the usual rental income for a month. Problem is I like living in my home! If it wasn't for impending baby I'd go abroad for a few weeks and come back when it's all over!

Hebiegebies · 14/05/2012 14:06

I can't wait, it's a once in a life time event. Yes it will take extra planning for those who live near by.

Brits love to moan.....

ELR · 14/05/2012 14:08

Not bothered either. I have booked holiday for first 10 days so we can avoid all the hassle!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 14/05/2012 14:09

YABU because you're dishonest. If you don't give a flying... why post a thread? If grumbling was an Olympic discipline, we'd clean up on the medals.

PineappleBed · 14/05/2012 14:09

Oh so over it! And the jubilee too. It's all just blah blah blah to me.

Went to john Lewis yesterday and saw that they are the "official department store of the 2012 Olympics" wtaf?

Dawndonna · 14/05/2012 14:16

Not remotely interested. But then I have four disabled people in this house and the ferking government are nicking our dosh.

squoosh · 14/05/2012 14:18

The Olympics are beyond boring. The marrow in my bones dries up and rattles at the thought of all that sporting nonsense come September.

FlossieMae · 14/05/2012 14:23

YANBU ... and don't get me started on the fucking torch relay

mayorquimby · 14/05/2012 14:28

is anyone asking you to give a flying...?

ishopthereforeiam · 14/05/2012 14:33

ELR I'm sooooo Envy

OP posts:
squoosh · 14/05/2012 14:34

mayorquimby not personally I wouldn't imagine, I think she is referring to the 'oh we're all so excited about the upcoming Olympics' spirit that is building, building, building . . . . . . . . .

It's perfectly fine to be nonplussed about the Olympics. It's also fine to be nonplussed at the seemingly neverending train of Euros - Wimbledon - Olympics etc. etc. etc.

Sports fans rejoice but everyone else can harumph as much as they please.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 14/05/2012 14:35

Me neither - quite frankly I will be glad when it's all done and dusted and people can stop going on about it!

HandMadeTail · 14/05/2012 14:38

Hoorah!

I'm so glad there are other people who don't care about them!

YADNBU!

bettybat · 14/05/2012 14:40

I was idly looking into a local estate agent's window yesterday and saw a 2 bed house for rent at 5.5k a month. I snorted, thinking anyone who would pay 5.5k a month in rent might as well buy....then I saw it was an "Olympic Let".

To put it in context, I live in a SE London zone 4 borough. Hardly Olympic let material. 5.5k for a 2 bed let in Zone 4!

orangeandlemons · 14/05/2012 14:45

Oh God yaaaawwwwwwn. No interest here either! In fact I was thinking today about how to avoid ever seeing them on the tv. I can't even stand the noise of sports commentators............

Just glad I don't live in Londoon.

Krumbum · 14/05/2012 15:06

Yanbu it ridiculous. No one even cares about olympic sports they just pretend to when the Olympics are on and it's such a massive waste of money especially with all the public service cuts atm! Could be spending it on something actually worthwhile. I'm gonna go into hibernation when it's on.

bettybat · 14/05/2012 15:13

The thing is, I actually really enjoy the Olympics. I just can't be arsed with the growing hysteria around transport and the enormous surge of people around.

ishopthereforeiam · 14/05/2012 15:15

Will the coverage on tv be on BBC and itv? Assuming yes but hoping now.

Ah yes... And the jubilee pineapple - John Lewis already selling celebratory biscuit tins!

OP posts:
orangeandlemons · 14/05/2012 15:21

Yes the Jubilee too. Sometimes I think perhaps I am living in a parallel universe to everyone else(except dp). I haven't noticed either

All the shops are full of both of them, and I sort of don't know where they came from. It has all just bypassed me somehow.

I once saw someone post on here years ago about "how can anything be better than the thrill of watching world class athletes competing against each other" I was totally bemused.......Hmm

LikeaPairOfNunsKnickers · 14/05/2012 15:30

We've the Olympic torch coming through our city - yay (read that in a flat sarcastic tone, btw).

Because I'm a CM I feel obliged to take the LOs down to wave a flag and cheer. I'm really not looking forward to it.

Ithinkitsjustme · 14/05/2012 15:33

YANBU to not care, but YABU to expect other people to care whether you care or not Grin. I'm looking forward to them but don't expect teh rest of the country to feel the same. I couldn't give two hoots about what is happening in Eastenders/ Cronation Street or any other soap opera, or football, or BGT or X Factor etc, etc, but other people do. Live and let live.

DamselInDisgrace · 14/05/2012 15:37

It's hardly a once in a lifetime event. The Olympics come round every 4 years and are just as dull every time. The only difference this year is that they are both inconvenient and tedious.

KitCat26 · 14/05/2012 15:38

We've booked a week's camping in Norfolk for the second week. No telly, no news papers and no flaming flames Grin by I like the gymnastics
