I have just realised that I have a mental picture in my mind of certain AIBU posters. A bit like I know exactly what Miss Theobald and Miss Potts look like on my mind's eye, I have only realised I don't actually know what people do look like, just what I have created. Cats bums, harrassed mums, Boden skinnys, sawdust feeders, dog rescuers, wind uppers, passionate BFers, McDonald's mums, etc. Sorry if I sound like I am generalising and labelling people, on the contrary. I have realised the error of my ways but wouldn't it be fascinating if MN was face to face??

and the kind and sympathetic and supportive women always appear in my head as a science teacher I had in 1982.

Actually I don't mean face to face. I meant that I had a screen on my wall that showed people at their computers as they post. A small glipse into the homes of others, maybe a sneaky coco pops box behind the lentil container

OMG I thought it was just me who mentally linked a certain 'look' to various posters Grin

Anyone I haven't attached a particular mental image to...will just have brown curly hair and be quite portly Blush

WhereYouLeftIt · 06/05/2012 15:09

sawdust feeders?

Thumbwitch · 06/05/2012 15:10

Ha. I don't think you'd have so many people posting stuff if there was a video link at the same time. Mind you, I mostly post in the dark so you wouldn't see much Wink

A sawdust feeder is one who is a step above a lentil weaver. Now, I am an aspiring weaver and hold them in the greatest regard but when they start getting picked on about food, you know that a sawdust feeder is online. Did I make that up? I'm not sure now..

Is it possible to be in more than one of your generalisations?

Thumbwitch · 06/05/2012 15:41

Theo - you need to explain more about a sawdust feeder - lentil weaver makes perfect sense to me, but sawdust feeder really doesn't - who do you feed sawdust to? What is the sawdust, actual wood-dust or is it like muesli stuff? [fick]

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 15:43

I do that too. Certain people I have very definate mental images of. I have pics on my profile though so no mystery there.

I am not sure if I would be disappointed to know what people really looked like though - it might shatter my illusions

WhataMistakeaToMakea · 06/05/2012 15:44

Haha Worra, I do actually have brown curly hair and am quite portly

WorraLiberty · 06/05/2012 15:45

Some of the posters who bang the same drum constantly about certain subjects, appear in my mind as tall, thin and very pale with a kind of exhausted expression.

They also wear ankle length brown corduroy skirts and white blouses Blush

WorraLiberty · 06/05/2012 15:47

Catgirl the 2nd photo of you on your profile is very similar to how I imagined you Shock

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 15:50

Spooky Shock

I think maybe my posts give away too much Grin must stop letting people know am aging, fading lush

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 15:51

I always imagine you must look a bit like me worra as we often seem to have the same viewpoint on threads. Even though I know that makes no sense whatsoever Grin

WorraLiberty · 06/05/2012 15:53

I don't look too unlike you actually Grin

But my hair's a bit shorter and I'm much older Angry

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 15:55

Maybe we were separated at birth :)

We could reunite on Trisha

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/05/2012 15:55

Catgirl if I looked like that I would have no problem being online and visible Envy I however would be extremely disappointing unless you love dawn French, as she used to be

SpagboLagain · 06/05/2012 15:56

The people I tend to agree with I think of as being attractive and quite cool. The people I disagree with are not. [shallow]

catgirl1976 · 06/05/2012 16:07

Aw thanks step. But I have had a baby now so I look like Keith Richards Grin

And Victoria Wood is rather gorg :)

theodorakis · 06/05/2012 16:08

I think I got sawdust feeder from a food related post where someone accused another of suggesting that all food was poisonous and only she could produce homemade food that would be acceptable. Dry, brown depressing sawdust sprang to mind.

Thumbwitch · 06/05/2012 16:09

Ah thanks - that makes more sense now just needed a visual handle on it :)

theodorakis · 06/05/2012 16:09

Well I don't know what she looks like but my hero is the Scottish woman who used to be on the News Quiz a lot. I picture her with slightly over bleached hair and a biker jacket. I can't face googling her in case I don't like her. Shallow but human.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/05/2012 16:10

funny that catgirl cos I have been likened to Victoria wood at times but more for my sense of humour and northern accent than my looks. I live down in the SW now and they have no idea about where norther accents are from cept 'up the line somewhere' bless em. Smile
