In a roundabout way (I think I was reading something in the Daily Fail about a brothel which was in a nearby town, which lead to Googling...) I have found various websites for 'escorts', many of which have 'punter reviews' and lots of other info IYSWIM.

Now, call me naive but I have never browsed such sites before and, bizarrely, have found myself rather turned on by some of it. I am now wondering if, perhaps, some of the women do actually enjoy their job due to their high sex drives for example - ie justifying me feeling turned on. I am now freaked out as I have always viewed men who pay for sex as the lowest of the low etc etc.

I think I know the answer to this (ie I AM being unreasonable, and naive to think anything otherwise etc), but also want some strong arguments to get me out of this unnervingly fruity frame of mind, so AIBU to find some of the sites or write ups a turn on...?

You really think it's erotic to read the musings of lowlifes who frequent prostitutes? Yep, that's weird. Think of the poor women who accept strange men's cocks into each orifice because they're so desperate for money. Hot.... Not.

LineRunner · 18/04/2012 01:01

Get. Help.

fortyplus · 18/04/2012 01:02

Read this and see if you still think it's a turn-on

WorraLiberty · 18/04/2012 01:03

Yes of course some women enjoy being prostitutes and some don't.

But how that turns you on is beyond me...looking at write ups?

Why don't you read some erotica or look at porn sites instead?

babysaurus · 18/04/2012 01:03

Maybe it's because you are associating it with porn between consenting adults, rather than viewing it as what it actually is (as put by CaoNiMa)...? Try and think about what it really is instead Confused

Starwisher · 18/04/2012 01:18

You probably are not seeing what your reading as real, just a work of fiction?

OhdearNigel · 18/04/2012 01:22

literotica.com/

thatisall · 18/04/2012 03:29

omg do people really 'review' prostitutes??? Like you would a hotel or a new microwave?

vile.

AYBU?? not unreasonable but it is odd don't you think?

I suppose if you don't cause anyone harm by satisfying your use to read write ups about women who sell their bodies and the men who buy them...then its your business. I don't really understand how the op is a question?

thatisall · 18/04/2012 03:29

not use...I meant urge

ErikNorseman · 18/04/2012 09:36

Ewwwwewew

frankie4 · 18/04/2012 09:45

Next time you get on a bus or train etc, look at the most revolting looking dodgy looking man and imagine him having sex with you. Still a turn on ?

tinkertitonk · 18/04/2012 10:00

The word pornography derives from porne (=Gk. prostitute) and graphein (=Gk. to describe, draw, write,...). So how is it acceptable to be aroused by porn but unacceptable to be aroused by descriptions or reviews of what prostitutes do?

peugotgringo · 18/04/2012 10:10

I think the OP means the lots of other info is the turn on for her, rather than the act of prostitution itself?

I don't think you are weird or have anything to worry about, just looking at the wrong sites Grin

JazzyButtons · 18/04/2012 10:13

I enjoy watching porn, it's kinda strange because I do, but my new man isn't bothered, it doesn't do it for him, it's like we're the wrong way round haha.

FluffStar · 18/04/2012 12:53

Maybe get a decent sex life of your own so you won't have to read reviews of desperate women written by inadequate men in order to get your rocks off...

boringnickname · 18/04/2012 13:26

Well, i find it erotic, in my own way, in my own head, but im fully aware that the reality is probably far less glamourous. Fantasy is good, but i second what the poster upthread said about grotty old fart on the bus and that soon brings reality storming back :)

HeartsJandJ · 18/04/2012 13:32

Bizarrely I know the sites you are talking about, it is a review of the "girls" by the punters.

It is a strange mixture of pathos, crudity, racism, sexism, loneliness and grubbiness. It's not nice to read, to my eyes.

I also recently read an interesting article about a journalist who has spent decades researching the porn industry and her latest work is on why men go to prostitures. She did identify that many of them felt lonely and wanted human contact. But one thing I read that made me feel sick and still does is someone who actively chose women/girls who had been trafficked as he liked to see them pretend to enjoy it. Sick horrible bastard.

kumquatsarethelonelyfruit · 18/04/2012 13:36

yuck.

Psammead · 18/04/2012 13:36

Well, women and men have lots of odd fantasies, some of which they would not dream of actually doing, or even of wanting to do in real life. Maybe the site was somethinglikethat for you, because the reality is obviously fairly grim.

Erotic fiction is perhaps the way to goSmile

porcamiseria · 18/04/2012 13:41
