To only ever wear granny pants

For the last few years I have only worn grey white cotton Bridget Jones style knickers (I must stress I have many pairs - I don't keep wearing the same pair). I first discovered them during pregnancy and I just can't give them up. Dh mocks me and regularly suggests I should get some more alluring underwear, I also have vpl sometimes but tbh I don't really care because they are comfortable and don't give me thrush. AIBU not to make more effort in the underwear department?

YANBU. I also favour full seat coverage since having children. But you could buy some nice silky French knicks as a compromise?

Sadly, me too. High waist. If I try anything else I just hoick and haul at them all day long.

marriedinwhite · 14/04/2012 23:23

Agree - seems impossible to find invisible panty line with anything other than M&S big silky knickers and now a more cottony version. They are called "the knicker" and are sooooooo comfy and clothes just hang better over them.

Don't let my DH see them though - put my nice long jersey interlock nightie little silk number on in the bathroom or just wander in starkers and find it on the pillow where I might have left it Shock

Destrier · 14/04/2012 23:23

But where do you find the Frenh Knickers that don't cost a fortune???

toofattorun · 14/04/2012 23:23

I am afraid that I, too, wear black full briefs and yes, they could double up as parachutes because they're so fucking mahoosive are a little bit large but they're comfy.

trikken · 14/04/2012 23:23

Yanbu. I go for similar myself. I tried thongs when I was younger but they were sooo uncomfortable.

YusMilady · 14/04/2012 23:24

YANBU. There's nothing like the lovely warm feeling of having one's arse well and truly covered.

catchafallingstar · 14/04/2012 23:26

LIKE this thread Grin

mayaswell · 14/04/2012 23:32

Glad I'm not alone in this, I would love to be thrilled by my underwear, but I prefer warm kidneys and nothing rubbing my c/s scar. But I would adore dove grey silk, I really would.

KirstyJC · 14/04/2012 23:32

YANBU at all! I also have a large selection of M&S black shortie-style pants. Not quite granny pants, but not exactly alluring either.

Every day I have a nice warm arse. 'Tis lovely Grin.

I tried a thong once, but decided the 'bifurcated cheeks' feel was not for me. I spent the whole day pulling the damn thing out of my arse and feeling every draught.

Nope, it's big pants all the way here too.

Smellslikecatspee · 14/04/2012 23:37

If they don't cover my full and expansive arse and belly, they're not worth wearing.

I do have skimpy frilly stuff, but that's only for, well you know and then I'm back in my big black cotton parachutes. . .

BaronessBomburst · 14/04/2012 23:38

No, I disagree with all of you! I've just gone back to my glamorous, lacey boxer-thongs and they're great. They don't take up nearly so much room in the washing machine and dry more quickly. And make me feel normal again. I don't know why I didn't go back to them before. because it took two years to shift the baby weight Grin

Mrsjay · 14/04/2012 23:39

my mum bought me my first big girl pants Grin a few christmases ago i think she thought it was time to have the benefit of the granny pant , and i love them they are very comfy i do have special pants for that once in a blue moon fumble with mr jay .

flumpalump · 14/04/2012 23:44

Well I feel much better to know I am not alone in this too mayaswell. I feel like I have joined a big knicker support group. When I was younger I had a vast array of tiny knickers and cheese wires but I really don't know how I wore them all day. Even those high leg pants feel uncomfortable to me these days!

Maybe you're right though PP - I could look for a better quality/style pair of big knickers as a compromise I suppose (the grey parachute pants are past their best to be totally honest Grin)

WorraLiberty · 14/04/2012 23:47

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Granny pants are all wrong....even for Grannies.

That is all.

flumpalump · 14/04/2012 23:55

You don't know what you're missing Worra Grin

Mrsjay · 14/04/2012 23:56

nope you dont know , mine dont go up to my navel though so maybe they are auntie pants rather than granny pants Grin

WorraLiberty · 14/04/2012 23:57

I'll get back to you if I ever take up parachuting Grin

WhenDoISleep · 15/04/2012 00:01

'Full briefs' all the way here even when not pregnant (although I do have some Sloggi shorts style as well). I much prefer not having to fiddle them back into place trough out the day (plus they are soooo comfy).

lesley33 · 15/04/2012 00:01

OMG - You are so wrong!!!!

about a year ago I embraced granny pants

flumpalump · 15/04/2012 00:08

But worra and lesley - what do you suggest as a more attractive alternative to the granny pant? Has to be natural material for the avoidance of crotch itch, full backside coverage for warmth and comfortable enough to wear all day without me having to root around removing material from crevices...

OP posts:
lesley33 · 15/04/2012 00:10

Seriously - why do you want a more attractive alternative? My DP doesn't care, so why should I? Admittedly if I was single and dating I would return to something more attractive.

I secretly fancy those pants you read about in boarding school stories that were so large they actually had pockets in them!!

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 15/04/2012 00:11

Checking in - me too.
