The grand national is cruel to horses

Alot of the horses will be injured and whipped into going faster, it's also a long race course.

I can't believe people would bet on this event

I'd rather a jockey was injured than a horse killed but fingers crossed whatever it is its not a tragedy

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 16:58

My sentiments too Catgirl - it just seems so much worse to the horses as broken legs don't heal well on them!

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 17:01

What I don't get is the winner seemed to really whip his horse but the guy who was decided second didn't, if there is a limit to use of whip surely if it is deemed that then surely the winners place should be removed?

thegreylady · 14/04/2012 17:01

I hoped there would be no fatalities this year but I fear there was one.

thegreylady · 14/04/2012 17:01

Neptune Collonges,a grey,won.

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 17:02

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 17:02

Kayano · 14/04/2012 17:03

catgirl1976 · 14/04/2012 17:03

Oh no he was a lovely horse :( Tragic

Kayano · 14/04/2012 17:03

Pete*

GrannyS · 14/04/2012 17:03

Omg, if i just heard right Synchronised was destroyed. If that's true. what a shame they caught him when he got loose before the race started. Think there was another one as well. :(

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 17:04

Two horses died!! With Al still being treated on the scene by the vets

LineRunner · 14/04/2012 17:04

Synchronised and According To Pete both dead.

fuzzysnout · 14/04/2012 17:04

Two beautiful horses dead. One more being treated on the course.
Now tell me it's worth it.

MilitaryWag · 14/04/2012 17:04

Well I hope those who continue to justify this race enjoyed the spectacle of yet more death and destruction. How you can watch that and STILL support it speaks volumes about the sort of people you are. And before I get any incoming, no I didnt watch it.
Hideous race Sad

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 17:05

So sad about both but agree with the sentiments of him being caught to run!

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2012 17:05

FFS. Is this a sport? Really? Sad 2 dead horses?

LineRunner · 14/04/2012 17:06

Sorry x-posting with others watching.

That will always be considered spooky in Grand National lore, that Synchronised tried to escape before the race.

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2012 17:06

Was Synchronised the one they had to catch at the start?

SauvignonBlanche · 14/04/2012 17:07

Frankel has had a lucky escape then.

GrannyS · 14/04/2012 17:07

That's it, i am NOT watching it next year. :(

catgirl1976 · 14/04/2012 17:07

It's a tragedy - No one wants horses to be injured or killed

Ratbagcatbag · 14/04/2012 17:07
