AIBU to find it a bit Hmm when facebook 'friends', who live nearby, post stuff like 'having a great time with my friends having a barbeque/drinks etc'. Why would they post it, during the event, except to say 'up yours' to all the local fb friends who aren't there? Given that, maybe it's just that I'm feeling a bit of a no friends norman.

Because it makes you look horribly popular, and in demand, fun, and interesting etc etc etc.

Cherriesarelovely · 31/03/2012 22:59

YANBU, that is a horrible feeling xx

AgentZigzag · 31/03/2012 23:01

They might be doing it as a 'compliment' to the person whose house they're at.

Although not that much of a compliment if it's so dull they're on their computer.

And they're showing how rude they are being on the computer round someone elses house.

I'm sure half of what people post is made up anyway, and the other half I hope it is.

Kayano · 31/03/2012 23:10

I don't know why people get their knickers
In a twist over fb

People can post
What they want within
Seconds using their phones on fb and MN!

I changed my surname on fb outside the church on my wedding day, didn't mean I wasn't thrilled or was bored at the time.

I don't know why people have fb if all they do is piss and moan about how other people use it.

If it isn't racist or offensive what does
It matter?

Haziedoll · 31/03/2012 23:23

"I changed my name on fb outside the church on my wedding day." Grin

How times have changed, 20 years ago this would have seemed unfathomable! Nobody would have had a clue what you were going on about.

For a nosey parker like me the Internet age is a good thing but it has ruined the mystery. 10 years ago I would sometimes wonder what the class bully had done with their life, now a peek on fb reveals that they have a daughter who goes to ballet, a feature wall in their living room and Friday nights are always spent at the local curry house. It's all a bit strange really.

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2012 23:28

I find it odd to have friends on FB who live nearby

My FB friends are people who live too far to visit regularly...so FB is a way of keeping in touch.

Either way, YABU to take it personally.

duckdodgers · 31/03/2012 23:30

Er not quite - I guess you dont know that people can post to FB from their phone then?

Kayano · 31/03/2012 23:31

hazie

I did it on an ivory phone I got to match my wedding dress

No lie Grin

AgentZigzag · 31/03/2012 23:33

Hehe I'm not that fucking old duckdodgers Grin

Computer/phone same thing these days, I didn't mean they'd lugged their PC/keyboard/mouse/USB powered desk fan into the party and sat Borglike all afternoon Grin

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2012 23:35

Back in Zigzag's day, they just used smoke signals to let everyone know what a great time they were having Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 31/03/2012 23:37

I always find that really funny. The event must be either really dull or the person posting must be borderline megolomaniac to actually spend time Facebooking while it's all going on. From a phone or not. I picture all the guests sitting round fiddling away on their phones while the sausages burn.

FFS - post about your enjoyment AFTER the event, not in the middle of it!

pictish · 31/03/2012 23:37

Facebook is crap if you're feeling low.
I could make m life sound a lot more interesting if I updated my status more, and put spin on my ordinary life I suppose, but it all seems a bit try hardy to me.

Overall though, I don't really mind what people post about, or from where. It's just spraff.

Kayano · 31/03/2012 23:37

Those smoke signals were a GIANT FUCK YOU to the locals not invited. Not
Only were they totally
Snubbed but they couldn't do any washing
....
On the rocks in the local river...

AgentZigzag · 31/03/2012 23:39

I'm not as old as you though Worra

AgentZigzag · 31/03/2012 23:40

They're probably all fbing each other Harriet Grin

AgentZigzag · 31/03/2012 23:40

I bet that's happened Grin

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2012 23:41

That's the one Kayano Grin

Ziggers I would type a witty comeback to you but right now I'm too busy updating my FB status about the fantastic sex I'm having with my DH.

So I'll have to get back to you

Kayano · 31/03/2012 23:44

Lmfao

updates fb about how I am lmfao

AgentZigzag · 31/03/2012 23:44

You're so dull and rude Worra, he should leave you.

LittlebearH · 31/03/2012 23:49

I find it annoying that some people have millions of profile pics that they change regularly and are posey or pouty.

I also find it annoying that a teacher friend of mine says the same thing all the time. Eg is it Friday yet? Its Friday wine o'clock and roll on half term/easter hols etc. Fucking teachers. Yes we know you have a shit load of holiday (I work in a school and am NOT term time only) but you do NOT work any harder than me. Just get through the week like normal people.

I also hate people who just "played a shite internet game" updates...

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2012 23:59

You're so dull and rude Worra, he should leave you

Just a couple more minutes please! Shock

I need to tell my FB friends what a wonderful shag I am Grin

Kayano · 01/04/2012 00:01

That's what she said

AutumnSummers · 01/04/2012 00:02

i open;;y admit to doing this. It's because, for once in my pretty fucking boring life, I'm having abit of fun and want to share that with everyone. I don't really care what that makes me in the eyes of others tbh.

pictish · 01/04/2012 00:03

Quite right Autumn.

WorraLiberty · 01/04/2012 00:04

Yeah but can't you wait til you've actually experienced the fun before you tell everyone how much fun it was?

Or am I just being far too dull sensible here? Grin
