...sneaky little feckers? Put them under grill, check after a few minutes still frozen, few minutes later the same, few more minutes starting to cook so turn over, few more minutes burnt! Everytime! I swear they have a cunning plan to not looked anywhere cooked until I have to do something else for 2 minutes then they spontaneously combust. Gaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Arctic roll

Chubfuddler · 30/03/2012 17:58

Fish finger sandwich with tartare sauce is the best sandwich EVER.

Fuzzywood · 30/03/2012 17:58

If by health grill you mean something like a George Forman thingy, can't use that as there's a standoff in our house going on over that at the moment. DH never cleans the damn thing so I'm refusing too, it's quietly fermenting in the corner. It's the principle I tell you < checks George, decides to clean on health grounds boak>

Fish fingers - oven

Sausages - oven

all food - oven

Have you noticed they don't even give instructions on 'how to fry' most things any more?

Chubfuddler · 30/03/2012 18:02

I have to say I havent grilled anything for years.

My mum grilled everything. And because she rarely cleaned the oven the grill pan combusting was just an occupational hazard of cooking tea. Ah, the eighties.

I cook fishfingers, and oven chips, onion rings, etc etc on my pizza oven tray, (metal tray, with loads of holes in) that way the air has a chance to get to the underside as well. I just stick a baking tray underneath to catch drips/crumbs.

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 30/03/2012 18:04

My ds1 has only just been given the go ahead with wheat so I think he best get started on the fish fingers! Yum! Fried fish fingers with ketchup mixed with salad cream with peas! Mmm.
Though my joys it's turn their noses up at sauce! Shock

Fuzzywood · 30/03/2012 18:04

AhsataN · 30/03/2012 18:06

Chubfuddler · 30/03/2012 18:07

I've sent Dh to get a Chinese but I want fish fingers now.

MinnieBar · 30/03/2012 18:08

Bake the feckers on a pizza stone. You don't even have to turn them then.

Fuzzywood · 30/03/2012 18:08

Don't forget to tell him to get Artic Roll Chub Grin

Google pizza oven tray. They sell them everywhere, Matalan, lakeland, tesco. Brilliant for those of us who can't be arsed to turn things over halfway through, as per the instructions with busy lives.

The non stick ones are about a fiver, and actually cook pizza rather well too. No more soggy bottoms!

MissTapestry · 30/03/2012 18:10

I did mean a George foreman thingy although we have a cheapo Argos one and I'm in exactly the same position, it's manky and mouldy and I'm refusing to even look at it let alone clean it! That's why I said DP bungs 'em in the health grill! Grin
I go to my mums and make her cook them for me

TattyDevine · 30/03/2012 18:13

Ooh yeah I reckon fishfingers lend themselves well to a deep fat fryer Grin

I do have one in the shed, which I use for Onion Bhajih, about once a year Hmm but DH always puts it back in the shed before I have a chance to fry up some other treats Grin

Actually has anyone ever had a fish finger burger? Deep fried fish fingers, lettuce/tomato or whatever salad you like (optional!) and lashings of tartare sauce in a bun.

Had it in an excellent pub once, delish Grin

RobinSparkles · 30/03/2012 18:13

I really fancy some fish fingers now but we don't have any in!

Fish fingers are the food of the gods!

Ambrosius · 30/03/2012 18:15

I always fry them. Blush

emmanana · 30/03/2012 18:15

Fish fingers in a white bread sandwich......

MyLittleMiracle · 30/03/2012 18:15

Always put mine in the oven! Hence no burnt fish fingers here, butAIBU to give them to my son as dinner? They are of course good quality ones?

Fuzzywood · 30/03/2012 18:22

Not unreasonable at all Miracle. Nothing wrong with them, just fish and breadcrumbs. Though I once found a feather ina fishfinger when I was a kid
