...sneaky little feckers? Put them under grill, check after a few minutes still frozen, few minutes later the same, few more minutes starting to cook so turn over, few more minutes burnt! Everytime! I swear they have a cunning plan to not looked anywhere cooked until I have to do something else for 2 minutes then they spontaneously combust. Gaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

fishfinger pitta with heinz tomato ketchup and spring onions - cor haven't had that for years. I used to grill them - rarely burnt them. Got a new cooker with a grill in the oven and it is a pain in the neck to use so hardly ever grill anything now. Sometimes do them in the oven for the kids but I hate they way they either go soggy or dry out, and stick like buggery.

And now it is hard to get cod fishfingers they just aren't the same. Maybe best to keep it as a memory :)

You need one of these I got mine from our local 99p shop.

It also cooks frozen pizza really well.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 30/03/2012 18:26

I bake them - I use BAKING PAPER to put them on, they NEVER stick. Grin

emmanana · 30/03/2012 18:26

I want a cookermesh now as well!!

Fuzzywood · 30/03/2012 18:28

Excellent, lots of random cooking equipment to be purchased and tested in the quest for the perfect fishfinger.

I had a fish finger sarnie for lunch today, grilled and not burnt, with mayo and lovely crunchy lettuce.

I used to always have this problem but I think I've sussed it - you need the grill on a low to medium heat and enough patience to cook them really slowly. I turn them a few times.

Deep fat frying is the best way but I'm not allowed as I'm the only carnivore in the house and it makes the chip oil a bit 'fishy'.

MickyDodger · 30/03/2012 18:38

They are like pears, savagely hard for a week until you turn your back and they immediately ripen and turn to much in 4.9 seconds.
Fishfingers have been taking lessons from the pears.

I like them deep fried, but only just fried or they leak gag inducing white stuff. About once a fortnight I do fish fingers, chips and egg. It's like injecting cholesterol straight into a vein but with flavour.

muddymooncups · 30/03/2012 19:35

I use a George foreman grill for cooking fish fingers. Grin

(crispy on the outside, soft in the middle) YUMMMMMMMMMMMM.Wink

TiggyD · 30/03/2012 21:23

My chef cooks them brilliantly. Shame the kitchen is so far away from the wing of the house in which I dine though, as they tend to be a bit cool by the time they get to me.

Boysrstupid · 30/03/2012 21:35

GleamingHeels · 31/03/2012 12:45

Fish Fingers
Should Be
Fried in Butter

These Are The Rules

carabos! Urban myth?

Fuzzywood · 31/03/2012 16:54

Carabos, you've never had a fishfinger sandwich Shock You have to try them immediately. But wash those fingers closely they're sneaky little beggars Smile.
Friday is normally fishfinger day but may have to do it before then to try some of the cooking suggestions Grin.

I never grill anything except cheese on toast and even then I blink and it burns Hmm I hate the gril i can never judge and just burn things , SO i just shove everything int he oven ,

LineRunner · 31/03/2012 17:15

Fish fingers should be baked, and mashed up with mushy peas on fresh white bread, with tomato sauce. This cures hangovers.

SugarBabyLove · 31/03/2012 17:18

Fish fingers should be fried and mainly eaten in a sandwich. To accompany the sandwich try a thumping head buggering hangover.

LineRunner · 31/03/2012 17:25

Actually if I had a really bad hangover I would fry the fishfingers because it's easier to chuck in the mushy peas as well.
