AIBU to be a bit freaked by being copied

hello - OK go easy on me I'm a lurker - I'm still getting my head around the abbreviations!

So I have a problem, I have a person who copies lots of things I do, clothes, shoes, jeans (down to the brand) handbags - hunts down the exact same bag from ebay if it's not in the shops - Hair colour, hair cut, coats.

Moved to be in the same area, gardening wise same plants, trees.

Children wise same wellies, boots, shoes, coats.

House wise, same wallpaper, paint colours etc.

Holidays

It seems like no part of my life isn't copied, actually car, I'm safe with my car!

Its fine and laughable for a while but this has now being going on for about 2 years and I've really had enough, to the point people stopped her to talk thinking it was me from the back.

I'm totally 100% happy with who I am what I stand for how I parent and all aspects of my life I enjoy life to the full, but this is really bothering me, so much so I counted the individual items and it totals 16 exact copies, and many many more similar ones -on a whole I could discount some items as just life and similar tastes, but even with that I think I'm being stalked.

Should I ask them to stop and have it out??? or just ignore get on with life and dye my hair blue??

Wink

Confused
SparkyMcSparrow · 14/03/2012 20:39

Have you talked to her about it?

Do not dye your hair blue....do it pink! Grin

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2012 20:42

Some people might say take it as a compliment, but bollocks to that it's freaky and stalkerish.

I'm surprised you've put up with it for so long, is it someone you've got no choice whether you're in contact with them or not?

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2012 20:42

Why the confused face CatVonB?

Just life in general?

Bearcrumble · 14/03/2012 20:44

It's quite bonkers. Have you asked her why she does it? Are you even friends?

highlandcoo · 14/03/2012 20:46

My MIL had exactly this situation. She was out one day and this stalkerish neighbour appeared at the door, to be greeted by DP, aged ten: "My mum says if I let you over the doorstep to nose round our house she'll kill me 'cause she's sick to death of you copying everything she's got."

Problem sorted :o

CatVonB · 14/03/2012 20:48

nooo, just a sort of sense of deja vu.....

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2012 20:48

Grin Grin

Brilliant highlandcoo.

ceeveebee · 14/03/2012 20:48

Get a weird wig - bright purple or summat, make sure she sees you in it.

Do that a few times she'll get bored Grin

Ditto weird fancy dress constume Grin

ENormaSnob · 14/03/2012 20:50

Oh god op, I was thinking of starting an almost identical thread.

My friend does this to me, copies everything.

She is lovely and I really like her but it's getting beyond a joke now.

I hate it.

Yanbu

Bearcrumble · 14/03/2012 20:50

Ohhhh - I didn't see the other one. Ha.

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2012 20:51

Lots of people post about lots of stuff, it's bound to repeat itself occasionally CatVonB.

Unless you know differently?

If you do tell MNHQ, otherwise leave the OP alone.

Fecklessdizzy · 14/03/2012 20:51

Put on 5 stone , get a grade 1 crop and some really rubbish tattoos ... That should spike her guns!

If she's a mate Hmm cool things off a bit and if she's not how does she know so much about you? ( I've known my best mate since we were at school back in the Jurrasic and we hang out on a weekly basis and I STILL couldn't tell you what paint she's got in her living room! )

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2012 20:52

X posts, that doesn't help out people who post real problems and get shit being called a troll ceeveebee.

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2012 20:54

And why post a spoof thread about another thread with only 6 posts?

It's hardly in classic thread territory is it?

CatVonB · 14/03/2012 20:56

Excuse me, I just saw two threads with the same thing - no harm meant on my part certainly

NurseJennyLee · 14/03/2012 20:57

I don't understand. Where's the punchline?

cabbagesoup · 14/03/2012 20:58

Help can someone tell me what rules I've broken done wrong?? not sure what agentzigzag, catVonB are talking about - arhhhhh

Fecklessdizzy so funny you should say about the weight gain thing, I did loose some recently and she asked how!! arhhh she knows so much as she lives next door, we are what I'd called new friends I was happy to be mates, friendly etc but have cooled off lots since this all kicked off. I see her everyday on the school run and live next door so hard to hide...

NurseJennyLee · 14/03/2012 20:59

Ah, Blush

CatVonB · 14/03/2012 20:59

The punchline is obviously me getting punched for commenting on this thread.

YuleingFanjo · 14/03/2012 21:00

I can see why you thought it would be funny. Grin

CatVonB · 14/03/2012 21:00

Cabbagesoup - you have done nothing wrong. I saw your thread, and commented. I then saw another thread with nearly the same title and posted a confused face, as it was the same. I got flamed for that.

NurseJennyLee · 14/03/2012 21:02

Sorry, was all confused I see the 'joke' is copying someone who's complaining of being copied.
