to boycott the tack room?

I have horses and love the company of like minded horsey people but some of the posters there are proponents of bare foot and traditional shoeing, which is contradictory but there are people there who feel strongly either way, and there is no mention of the Poplar Park horse trials which am en route to now and so rather than discuss it there aibu to start an utterly pointless thread about it there?

Go ahead, I always felt barefoot/shoeing was the Tack Room's very own BF/FF tbh.

MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:25

I just feel a bit alienated because I have one barefoot pony, one that's shod in front and have at times had them both shod all round Shock

Iheartpasties · 11/03/2012 11:25

oow it's so intriguing to hear about strong opinions and fallings out on parts of mn that I have never ventured into.

CheshireDing · 11/03/2012 11:27

Not unreasonable, personally I preferred traditional shoeing when I had mine though.

Is it really similar to bf/ff? Outraged! Grin

catgirl1976 · 11/03/2012 11:28

I have horses Mitchie and no strong views on shoeing / barefoot so I'll talk to you if you like Grin

So.......are you competing or spectating today?

SarahStratton · 11/03/2012 11:28

I always did barefoot with mine until BigHorse, he had stupid little delicate TB feet and you could see him visibly wincing.

MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:29

I'm just being silly of course, I love the tack room, and if I didn't I would play an active part in shaping it towards something more inclusive or whatever my vision for it was - I wouldn't really start a passive aggressive thread in aibu. Except I sort of have.

OP posts:
DoUntoOtters · 11/03/2012 11:32

I suppose every section of MN has its contentious topic. Fat Face seems to make several S&B laydeez quite cross. Grin

I think it's collar vs no collar in The Litter Tray.

Any more?

MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:34

actual feminist v 'i really can't cope with the existence of the women's rights boards because I am a freak' shit stirrers on fwr and beyond?

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 11/03/2012 11:37

Aye carumba. I'm a formula-feeding barefootin' poster - I don't care about those two issues, but don't get me started on over-bitting & gadgets - children's ponies in gags etc. Wink

PS I didn't realise we were all at war over barefoot/shod.

MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:40

we aren't, I'm being irritated by another AIBU thread - I know this means I must be taken outside and shot in the back of the head

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 11/03/2012 11:40

Oh dear, I thought it was an actual room at the stables

I was wondering why you'd boycott it because of a couple of posters on the wall Blush

2shoes · 11/03/2012 11:42

why not just start a thread about "your topic" in there and chat to like minded people
(you can see I have no idea what horse/pony people talk about)

catgirl1976 · 11/03/2012 11:42

Why don't you post on that thread then rather than starting another - rather too cryptic - one?

Methe · 11/03/2012 11:44

My ponies were always barefoot 'cos the carrier was so bloody expensive and we didn't do much roadwork.

I never realised there was a hoof movement, how Intreguing!

DontCallMeBaby · 11/03/2012 11:45

Nah, collars aren't contentious in the Litter Tray. It's cat people vs cats-crap-on-my-lawn-the-bastards people.

MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:49

because it just encourages them if you post doesn't it, I don't see the point in going Biscuit or 'yawn' just to show how tiresome, repetitive and pointless they are

OP posts:
MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:50

see it didn't seem very cryptic in my head but I was forgetting about the massive gulf between what's in my mind and the real, actual outside world Blush

OP posts:
ENormaSnob · 11/03/2012 11:55

Horses for courses innit.

Mine was barefoot but am not opposed to shoeing if the need is there.

MitchieInge · 11/03/2012 11:58

I feel a bit of a dick now. I just read a bit of a thread and thought Hmm when was the last time I saw a thread like that about the Longhaul Holidays board or chicken keepers or even other quite contentious areas of MN, yet the anti-fwr brigade trot these AIbUs out with yawnsome regularity

anyway I love the tack room, sorry for being grumpy, should not have gone to church and put self in a bad mood

OP posts:
seeker · 11/03/2012 12:00

Ours is shod in front.

Can I start a bitless/bitted debate? Grin

JerichoStarQuilt · 11/03/2012 12:33

Mmm, never posted in the tack room but this didn't strike me as cryptic! Grin

Nicely done.

Personally I don't understand why you fools all have babies and children and really think MN should change to suit me by getting rid of all references to progeny. It's just so joyless, all this celebration of new life.

ChaoticAngel · 11/03/2012 12:37

WorraLiberty "Oh dear, I thought it was an actual room at the stables"

So did I Blush

chibi · 11/03/2012 12:47

aw hun do you have to make it so complicated? as long as you are choosing what do do with your horse it's ok, don't let those tack room bullies tell you different!!!! happy horse, happy rider!!!

!!!!!!!

pippala · 11/03/2012 12:53

Join Horse and hound forum!
I always feel posters on the tack room sound like yummy mummies who have ponies for Henry and henrietta just because they can and don't have a clue!
Horse and Hound is a very knowlegable forum!
