I thought they were the people who were on a thread about being angry about the cuts.

Stick around and you'll soon find out :)

People who are professionally offended, people who persistantly get vair worked up and "froth" over issues etc, people who near implode with rage over topics

2shoes · 09/03/2012 15:57

but how do you define professionally offended?

YonWhaleFish · 09/03/2012 16:00

--> Fuck off asking me what a frother is. It's the internetz, a public forum and I'll say what I bloody well like.

I also don't care what you think you stranger!

Katiepoes · 09/03/2012 16:00

Bah. I was hoping it might be the MN version of a fluffer.

Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 16:01

What's a fluffer?

catgirl1976 · 09/03/2012 16:01

I don't know why you bothered having children - fuck off to nethuns

etc............

Moominsarescary · 09/03/2012 16:02

I'd say someone who gets offended about everything, but it's not realy like that. They get offended at the smallest thing, some take political correctness to a totally different level.

The other day someone's head nearly exploded because people use frozen veg, realy is that the sort of thing to be getting het up about.

WorraLiberty · 09/03/2012 16:04

A fluffer?

Oh that sucks!

OhChristFENTON · 09/03/2012 16:09

Ah, I learnt this just today actually. I always thought that a 'frother' was someone making an almighty fuss about something fairly innocuous or wilfully misunderstanding something to the point that most others are left looking like this Confused while said frother continues foot stamping and raging...

but, what I didn't know is that there are a lovely bunch of Frothers who have a Frothing Thread to discuss cuts and politics and such, - quite different.

I further learnt that the good egg Frothers don't necessarily know that other posters on MN don't know of their existence and don't know that we might offend them by using the expression 'frother' to describe the former.

That is what I have learnt today.

Whatmeworry · 09/03/2012 16:10

I think YouAreNotSilly defined Frother well on another thread:

"taking the moral high ground, pursuing ideological agendas and are generally inflexible/(un)pragmatic about their approach"

Professionally Offended is beuatifully satirised on the "Stuff Whire People Like" satirical blog - see here

2shoes · 09/03/2012 16:11

so it is someone who gets upset over nothing, as apposed to someone who gets offended over offensive stuff??

Katiepoes · 09/03/2012 16:11

Proudnscary to save you the horror of googling - a fluffer is employed in the making of 'adult' films to help the leading man stay in (ahem) a leading position.

I dare you to google...

Whatmeworry · 09/03/2012 16:11

Oh that sucks!

Thar she blows!

An MN Fluffer is one who continually sucks up to MN Royalty.....

2shoes · 09/03/2012 16:12

I thought they were just a brown nose

OP posts:
Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 16:14

Oh my giddy aunt...really?! Why's it called a fluffer though?

2shoes · 09/03/2012 16:14

I don't want to wonder

OP posts:
Floggingmolly · 09/03/2012 16:17

Someone who gets all aeriated about nothing very significant?

catgirl1976 · 09/03/2012 16:17

Is it like when you fluff pillows maybe?

Like...you give them a shake to plump them up?

Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 16:20

Fluffing up pillows does NOT give my husband a hard on

catgirl1976 · 09/03/2012 16:21

No? What about cleaning the venetian blinds? That's a winner surely?

Pagwatch · 09/03/2012 16:22

A frother is someone who gets disproportionately angry about stuff , often stuff they have read in the Daily Mail. Preferably they should have very little understanding of the subject that has annoyed them but they must defiantly get really annoyed at any attempts to explain it to them.

They like to feel ganged up on, imagining that fifty people disagreeing with them is not because they are thick and aggressive but because the others are all in a clique/royalty/pc wankers/any it her group they want to feel may pick on them.

The amount they whine about being picked on and 'you lot' being bullies/mates/bleeding heart/smug is usually directly related to how much of a twat they are.

Not PC people 2shoes. But it has been appropriated by people who want to speak their Jeremy Clarkson truth unhindered.

catgirl1976 · 09/03/2012 16:22

Maybe it's becasue the spends lots of time gazing at the porn stars belly button fluff?

2shoes · 09/03/2012 16:23

I think I get thanks.
sorry I now have the word fluffer in my mind, think I will have to scrub it

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 09/03/2012 16:29

Hully coined it 2shoes. It was during the wave of 'immigrants coming here mugging our grannies and stealing our Koi Carp...s'not fair' posters

2shoes · 09/03/2012 16:31
