I thought they were the people who were on a thread about being angry about the cuts.

I thought the mn Frothers had appropriated the term usually used derisively about daily mail types and inverted it.

Pagwatch · 09/03/2012 16:34
Grin
Pagwatch · 09/03/2012 16:36

maybe they have. I wouldn't expect them to come up with something all by themselves.

Chubfuddler · 09/03/2012 16:38

I wasn't making a value judgement about them doing so.

Defensive much?

Pagwatch · 09/03/2012 16:40

Confused no, not defensive. I don't use it.

I just do think that would be unsurprising. I didn't think you had any particular view about that.

2shoes · 09/03/2012 16:40

I hate the word, no idea why just hate it

It was frothing berserkers 2shoes. I think the image was someone snarling at a screen working themselves into a total lather.

SardineQueen · 09/03/2012 16:46

The frothers on MN are a group who are talking about the cuts and taking action where poss

There is a blog and everything

SardineQueen · 09/03/2012 16:47

I must admit I also thought Frothers were the ones working themselves into a lather on a keyboard (for whatever heartfelt reason), that has always been the general Internetz definition.

A quick Google tells me the top result for "Frother" is a group dedicated to painting toy soldiers and Warhammer stuff etc, next is a group dedicated to teh perfect Latte.

Pagwatch · 09/03/2012 16:57

I have missed the entire birth of a movement. Blogs and everything Grin

SardineQueen · 09/03/2012 16:58

The MN group reference the "frothing beserkers" comment but I don't know if they made it up or if one of them was accused of being one or if it was a comment on a different thread entirely!

bradbourne · 09/03/2012 17:03

Frother: Someone full of hot air and lacking in substance.

Frother: Someone full of hot air and lacking in substance

With hints of foaming at the mouth...that has been the term as understood on Internet discussion groups since long before the Web even.

SarahStratton · 09/03/2012 17:18

I always imagine the frothers *note small 'f', to look rather like the Rabbids.

OhChristFENTON · 09/03/2012 17:22

I can't believe I knew more than Pags Shock

okay so I only learnt it today but still, it counts.

2shoes · 09/03/2012 18:11

see that is what I thought A frother was, but then saw it being used as a veiled insult

Moominsarescary · 09/03/2012 18:14
