To detest low rise jeans

Hoist up your breeks! I can see your arse cheeks!

These things do not look at all comfortable yet they seem to be the garment of choice for mothers around here. Then they bend over at toddler group, or put the kids in the car and there it is! An arse almost fully out in public! Not to mention the constant yanking to pull em up again. Very unsavoury. AIBU or just hopelessly frumpy in my jeans that start on my actual waist?

Higher jeans press on pierced belly buttons which is agony!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 26/02/2012 17:37

Braces then?

they also give you a muffin top.i have a pierced bellybutton but i dont yank up my jeans.
maybe you should hand them out belts?

BigBoobiedBertha · 26/02/2012 17:44

I thought low rise was going out of fashion to be replaced by higher waists and about time too! I can't abide low rise trousers and bum cleavage. Drives me mad that my DSs think trousers shouldn't be pulled up sufficiently to cover the top of the bum cheeks and I am on a loop, repeatedly telling them to cover up. Far worse if it is an adult though.

They are hopelessly unflattering - they just show your muffin tops all the time. I would far rather mine was kept under control but a sufficiently high waist band rather than flop around all over the place unhindered.

But I am hopelessly out of date and middle aged so what do I know!? Smile

MetalSian · 26/02/2012 17:45

They are so comfortable.
I can't wear high waisted jeans, they are hideous and uncomfy.

But I agree people shouldn't have their arse sticking out.

susiedaisy · 26/02/2012 17:46

I don't like low rise jeans either Smile

gordyslovesheep · 26/02/2012 17:47

they only give you a muffin top if you buy them too tight - plus high waisted jeans give you a sausage of a muffin top anyway! when you bend

if you have a wobble belly you have a wobble belly - I do but I find I can hide it with low waisters better than high

sonicrainboom · 26/02/2012 17:48

YANBU
They're really uncomfy

ExitPursuedByaBear · 26/02/2012 17:50

YANBU - hate the bloody things. I have taken to going shopping with a tape measure to check the .... what is it ..... the gusset? The rise? Whatever, the bit from the top of the waistband to where all the bits meet.

BananasInBloomers · 26/02/2012 17:52

its worse when the belly is sandwiched between a pair of low rise jeans and a too-tight-too-short tshirt.

taxiforme · 26/02/2012 17:54

YANBU

Bring on the Farrah Fawcett high waisters Grin

gamerwidow · 26/02/2012 17:55

YANBU they are so uncomfy. My body shape means that I have a small waist, narrow hips but a sticky out bum. All trousers gape on me at the back so I need them high enough to be able to wear a belt with them properly.
Low rise jeans make everyone but the most skinny look fat.

cece · 26/02/2012 17:55

I can't stand them - they fall down all the bloody time. You spend all day hoisting them back up. Drives me made. I too have started shopping with a tape measure to ensure enough gusset to waist length. Smile

Panzee · 26/02/2012 17:55

I hate high waisted jeans - they accentuate my floppy belly. I seem to be able to hide it better in low rise.

I got these for the flesh gap: www.haramaki.co.uk/

MetalSian · 26/02/2012 17:56

Just curious is this an age thing?
(Not meaning to be rude so please don't take it that way).

I have never properly worn high waisted trousers and I am the opposite to others on here and would never wear them.

I think if you have always worn them though then that is why you find them comfy.

gordyslovesheep · 26/02/2012 17:58

ohhh i like that panzee - i tend to wear a vest !

lesley33 · 26/02/2012 18:09

Yes I think it is an age thing. I am 47 and high waisted trousers used to be all you could buy.

cece · 26/02/2012 18:10

I think it might be an age thing - I am mid 40s. I grew up with high waisted jeans, low ones are pretty recent I think...

alessthandomesticgoddess · 26/02/2012 18:10

I have a big belly so prefer high waisted jeans. Low rise make me feel uncomfortable and I'm constantly yanking them up.

sonicrainboom · 26/02/2012 18:11

No I'm 25 (unless that is considered being older)
I like "medium rise" if there is such a thing, not too high, not too low

cece · 26/02/2012 18:12

To me they are not only uncomfortable but they just look wrong! LOL

whomovedmychocolate · 26/02/2012 18:15

I need a long rise as my pelvis is too long for my body (should've been a giraffe or something). Anyway, when I wear low rise jeans they do not even cover my arse crack. Hence I don't wear them.

And I desperately want to run after women wearing them with those boob tube things you get when pregnant to cover the gap between your tummy and your trews.

susiedaisy · 26/02/2012 18:17

I think this could be an age thing as well I'm 42 this year and I don't like themSmile

I hate low rise too - always preferred high waisted but seems difficult to find them - (I am 44 & 3/4!) :)
