Depends on who you're talking about.

I'm not fussed about either on an internet forum, but I'd expect a teacher to be up on it.

And if I'm not sure about my own I either look it up or leave it out (if it's one of them damn pesky apostrophes).

YANBU because grammar (not mere punctuation) affects spoken language not just written. Bad grammar can also obscure or change meaning in a way that poor spelling (so long as decipherable) doesn't.
