To think that there is NOTHING less sexy than...

...a pale pink night shirt (eg long T shirt type thing) with a high percentage of polyester in the poly/cotton ratio, with a sad eyed puppy appliqued on the front, proclaiming "I'm Cute!"

Or a lemon yellow one, with a penguin appliqued on the front, wearing a jaunty bobble hat and scarf, proclaiming "Snow time!" with a few strategically placed snowflakes above his head.

(Just having a clear out...Christmas presents from my DM and DMIL...)

YANBU
Novelty nightwear is for the weak

GiserableMitt · 18/02/2012 15:48

"Sexy" probably wasn't what they had in mind when buying a present for their daughter/DIL LOL!

MrsKittyFane · 18/02/2012 15:48

Hmm, what a good idea, might keep DH on his side of the bed so that I can get lots of lovely sleep! :o

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/02/2012 15:49

Oh. I have just found slippers to match the yellow one.

I can see its appeal for a four year old, but I am 47 and built like a brick shithouse. I don't do cute. I can't do cute - it would look horribly wrong if I even tried.

OP posts:
MrsKittyFane · 18/02/2012 15:50

Post them to me OP

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/02/2012 15:50

BhS, MrsKitty.

The one from my mother is size 24. Everything she buys me is a size 24. I am not, and never have been, a size 24.

Ever been given fleece pajamas? Yes, by mil. My Mum doesn't see me as the fleece pajama wearing sort thankfully.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/02/2012 15:52

And a Betty Boop one.

OP posts:
FecalVomit · 18/02/2012 15:52

I don't know, I quite like my black cotton pjs that say "fuck off, I'm sleeping"

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/02/2012 15:52

Fleece PJs scream SWEATY at me, Yama.

OP posts:
spooktrain · 18/02/2012 15:52

Sounds like DH's spectacular fail one year on the nightwear front:

fleece, (yes really) pjs - bright pink bottoms and pale pink top with a cupcake appliqué and the words "Bite Me!" emblazoned under it

Not only hideous but also a fire hazard - they actually made sparks

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/02/2012 15:53

They sound perfectly acceptable, FecalVomit.

OP posts:
Yama · 18/02/2012 15:53

Like sleeping in a freakin' sauna.

SkivingAgain · 18/02/2012 15:53

Sexy from the MIL is even worse, believe me Wink

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/02/2012 15:54

Did you get knickers with an ice cream on the front saying "Lick My Frozen Assets" to go with them, Spooktrain?

OP posts:
Yama · 18/02/2012 15:54

Ha ha SkivingAgain. Yes, I suppose you're right.

bigbadbarry · 18/02/2012 15:56

Opposite problem in this house: MIL once saw me in my favourite brushed-cotton men's pyjamas and remarked that I'd never turn a man on in them

SilentBoob · 18/02/2012 15:56

Well yes they do sound awful. But not every item of clothing needs to be sexy. I sometimes go months days at a time without knowingly wearing anything sexy.

spooktrain · 18/02/2012 15:57

don't tempt him OP, they'd probably be in purple fleece

MrsKittyFane · 18/02/2012 16:02

Oohh! and size 24!! just right for me
I'm jealous of your novelty nightie collection OP :o

I've just told DH my plan for a undisturbed sleep and he's glaring at me.

YABU!

halcyondays · 18/02/2012 16:36

I don't think they are meant to be sexy. And yes, it would be a bit odd for your mil to be giving you sexy nightwear for a present.

attheendoftheday · 18/02/2012 17:04

I have had fleece pyjamas as presents from both dm and dmil. And I wear them. My house is freezing so they are welcome!

But not sexy, no.
