To spend £10 on a haircut for 3yo DS?

At this place?
I have driven past it a few times and thought 'wow I bet DS would love that but I bet they charge £££ and will go bust in 6 months' but I had a look on the site and they charge £10. I know that's a lot (!) for a pre schooler's hair but I'm crap at doing it and it is well overdue. Although it's a lot for a kid's hair, I could afford it. So? Would you?

It is a lot but even our local barbers charges £10 for a preschooler, you can't get any cheaper round here.

No I don't think I would.

Possibly (if I had a DD) when she's 10 and nagging to have a 'pamper party' because all her friends are having them.

But until then, I'd just stick a DVD on, grab the scissors and bribe her with chocolate.

Ithat's what I assumed too! But £10 for a successful haircut seems ok. I doubt he would sit still for a barber but with racing cars and tvs he might! And it looks fun.

£10 doesn't seem like a lot to me. My local barbers used be £8 for a boys cut, then went up to £9, and now it's a tenner.

I have always given them £10, so they used to get a tip, but now they dont.

DH keeps spending £10 on a haircut for our 2 yo DS. Because he didn't think to ask the barber how much it should cost, just hands over a tenner and leaves. I went with them last time, asked up front how much it was, was told £6, and then left. Was not impressed with DH, as he has wasted about £16 on these hair cuts now!

So YANBU, but have you tried a barber? a tub of chocolate buttons in front of him does the trick for DS, and he needs frequent cuts due to his ridiculous hair!

Worra that's fine if you're handy with scissors but I find short hair really hard to cut well. Worth £10 to me to end up with a decent haircut.

I take my dc to a lovely local lady who has a dvd player and manages to get all the latest films suspiciously quickly. Grin
The dc love it.

Do you have the tenner? If so how you spend it is a no problem really. If not, then you don't do it.
Fwiw, I don't think it's expensive, but I have girls god help me.

I take the DC to the barbers (including DD), they charge £11 on a Saturday but it's walk in without an appointment then leave less than ten minutes later with a lolly.

And they charged £1.50 for the baby on one occasion just to lop off the manky bits, they put up with me taking before and after photos. And when the 'baby' had his curly ringlets hacked off for school, the manager came up to me with a tissue in one hand and in the other a bag for me to collect the hair Blush

Probably why they're always really busy because they don't take the piss with prices.

My son hates getting his haircut. I have to do it myself and it's a total pain. I would pay £100 if he would finally sit at a hairdresser for a decent cut.

I thought the same as you but then DH told me that the barber who tried to cut DS's hair but gave up after 2 minutes because he was protesting so much still charged him the full tenner. Outrageous when you consider they don't run appointments and he could just go straight to the next bloke who was waiting in line.

I do think it's hard to do a nice boy's haircut. I don't want it too short and it's thick and wavy so if you mess up it looks ridiculous!

A boy's cut is a tenner where I live at a bog standard barber's.

I used to take my dd to oe of those places, it was $25 (£16) cdn plus a tip, so I think £10 is a good deal. I would trim her fringe and go so the salon every three months or so. it meant she would sit still, so it was worth it to me.

We went today and it was fab. He lived the car chair, they put Thomas on the DVD player, and apart from the gormless girl on reception who forgot about us and nearly gave his appointment to some else it was great. The hairdresser was lovely, DS looks brilliant and they gave him a balloon and a lollipop. Very highly recommended even of the girls' pamper party section made me want to puke a bit

£10!!!?

My mobile hairdresser charges me £9 for a trim! I can't be bothered to spend time travelling to a salon or to listen to rubbish spouted by assistants about my holiday, my children, my house, where I work. I even went as a model sometimes but still had to listen to the rubbish. Why can't they do it in silence?

ds's haircut was only £3.60 when he was age 3 and 4. It has now gone up to £5 as he has started school. Even dd's haircut only costs £7

We pay that for our DS - used to pay a fiver but it was rubbish! Now he goes to a proper barbers, they charge a tenner but you can really tell the difference - he is always complimented when he has a haircut.
