PLEASE HELP ME FIND THEM! Really just wondered if anyone knew any, and if so please can i have their phone number. PRETTY PLEASE!

I don't I'm afraid, but I can give your thread a bump.

You sound in a bit of a tight spot, what have you tried already?

WhereMyMilk · 04/02/2012 21:33

Will bump this too, hope all OK today Ellen

squeakytoy · 04/02/2012 21:35

I know there are quite a few in Sutton, Worcester Park, Epsom.. but are they too far for you. (still only 25 mins into Waterloo on mainline though)

NorksAreMessy · 04/02/2012 21:50

A bump for the bump!
Sory can't help more

EllenandBump · 04/02/2012 21:51

I have tried the coucil and rang a good few ads in the papers but found out yesterday from shelter that the council look like they arent going to help. They are arguing apparently its reasonable for me to go back to a property in northampton, where i was living before with my abusive ex husband, because he say "he has no plans to return there" and has handed his keys in. Which he may have done, but has probably got copies of them made up, he would know where i live and i would never feel safe there. I really do need to be in greenwich/bexley/erith area, close to old friends and family. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP. Just words of encouragement are really helping me at the moment. x

I know this sounds daft.... and I'm not sure if it would even work - but have you tried your MP? Explain your situation?

DorothyGherkins · 04/02/2012 22:10

Put a postcard in post office/shop window? We got a few rented flats this way. Worth a try?

staylucky · 04/02/2012 22:12

MP would work also local councillors, you'd be surprised. Good luck and BUMP Grin

EllenandBump · 04/02/2012 22:16

Thank you, ever so much. Was going to leave my details with everyone and anyone who could possibly help!

SweetLilyTea · 04/02/2012 22:37

Have you tried here?

Good luck.

SweetLilyTea · 04/02/2012 22:39

Sorry, should also say, scroll down a bit and there is a bit where you can click on different areas - pretty much all the areas you are interested in :)

EllenandBump · 04/02/2012 23:01

Have checked on there, but no one seems to want to take housing benefit. Its like i am stuck. At mums if i work, she loses so much money as she is a pensioner, if i dont, i cant get anywhere to live. Childcare costs are realistically out of my league and more than i will be earning. But thank you anyway. x Also tried bexley times too.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear of your situation and have a few suggestions:

I think you should challenge the decision of the council not to rehouse you. If you have a local housing law centre that would be a good place to start.

If not contact Shelter
.england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice

Secondly,if you are still the tenant of the Northampton house you might be able to swap with another tenant www.homeswapper.co.uk/

Thirdly I think word of mouth/personal recommendation is the best way to find a landlord. I agree with the advice to speak to your MP and local councillor. Someone will know someone who will know someone who can help.

I hope you get support to find the right place for you.

Good luck.
