I am just really desperately asking everyone (and anyone) if they know of any landlords in the bexley, greenwich, sidcup, dartford, erith, thamesmead and surroung areas who take housing benefit! PLEASE HELP ME FIND THEM! Really just wondered if anyone knew any, and if so please can i have their phone number. PRETTY PLEASE!

Hello again. I don't have anything new to add I'm afraid and my knowledge of the law around homelessness only applies in Scotland .
What I did want to say is that landlords want good reliable tenants and the source of the rent is not as important as the fact the rent is being paid.
In a previous role I helped adults with learning difficulties rent and buy property and came across lots of discrimination.
In almost every case landlords and lenders were convinced after a face to face meeting and a chance to dispel some of their prejudices.
I think you are on the right lines with involving friends and family in your search.
Another quick thought- could you and your DC live in as part of a house sitting arrangement ?
This might tide you over for a while.
Best of luck

But if a tenant isnt getting housing benefit they still might decide not to pay their rent? That argument doesnt make sense. Think there needs to be a new mumsnet campaign - not all benefit claimants are scroungers - to try to change the view that some people seem to have.

Hope the visit to the letting agent goes well tomorrow Ellen

Have name changed, before i get jumped on AGAIN! He knows where i am atm, but he wont come near here as he only ever did when i was alone, never in front of anyone else, hence i feel safe here, and mum could get an injunction to prevent him coming here. I have spoken to a solicitor and plan to go through a contact centre (the abuse was very extreme), but he has not replied, so although he has a right to see him, he doesnt have the right to see me!
