I hate. The way. He pauses. For emphasis.

Oh, yes, I can relate to this. It's so frustrating. You'd think they could send him to some classes or something. You're constantly trying to hurry him up and say what he's meant to be saying.

FeelingsorryforSnape · 31/01/2012 22:10

I.Find...Him.Annoying...Too.

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 31/01/2012 22:10

He doesn't talk like that off air

I find him irritating for many many reasons but this is high up there!

IloveJudgeJudy · 31/01/2012 22:10

I think he's had big problems with stuttering so it is a way of him overcoming his disability.

OcarinaOfTime · 31/01/2012 22:12

And lo, the death knell of the thread sounds...

WheresTheCat · 31/01/2012 22:13

Ah well Judy, if that's the case then I'll be annoyed by his 'Just For Men' hair instead Grin

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 31/01/2012 22:15

Hmm, well I have heard him speaking when he's off air and he doesn't seem to stutter (he talks 'normally'). Maybe he gets nervous when he has to read his script and that's why.

Even without the way he talks he is annoying!

hiddenhome · 31/01/2012 22:15

Oh, dear, feel bad for complaining now Confused

I'll let him off and go back to detesting Jeremy Clarkson again Grin

champagnesupernova · 31/01/2012 22:16

The gaps he

leaves

between words aren't

only

for emphasis though. I am sure

of that.

I think

it is

his brain

catching up with

his hairline

WipsGlitter · 31/01/2012 22:18

Just called him a cunt. He really bugs me. And that salmon shirt was terrible.

olgaga · 31/01/2012 22:20

FFS the guy has overcome a stammer! I'd rather listen to him than most other Tossers on TV. He's great! Hey Bob, fancy a chat...I've got a month free...

lottiegb · 31/01/2012 22:53

I heard him on Feedback on R4 and when asked about people finding his vocal delivery annoying he talked about talking too fast when the thoughts and enthusiasm are flowing and knowing this can annoy, not about the pauses or about any stutter. I've since taken the view that the slow bits must be when the thoughts are not flowing. He is very hard to listen to.

If only we hadn't had a recession there wouldn't have been such a major role for the business correspondent (that has to be a major reason to regret it)!

I actually think his reporting has helped with the doom and gloom and made the recession worse. Self interest you see!!

Scuttlebutter · 31/01/2012 23:15

I can't stand him. I find the odd, variable pauses in strange places which break up the metre of his speech incredibly irritating. I also find the bizarre delivery detracts from what he is saying. I usually end up screeching at the radio for him to get on with it, FFS. Blush

Rhinestone · 31/01/2012 23:19

I know quite a few people. In 'the City' who could quite. Cheerfully murder. Him.

There is quite a consistent school of thought that blames him for making things much worse.

I can't stand. Him.

hawthers · 01/02/2012 03:35

Me too and that bloody smug nick Robinson. The pair of them are so bloody irritating.

Whatmeworry · 01/02/2012 07:31

The city. Blames. Him for msking. Things.worse. Because
He
Accurately reported what they
Were
Up to.
But god that
Delivery
Is................hard to listen

To.

CaveMum · 01/02/2012 08:19

He used to have a stammer, according to several web articles.

MardyBra · 01/02/2012 08:24

I find a lot of regional weather forecasters.

Are irritating they pause in the middle.

Of sentences but don't leave pauses.

At the end.

Lovecat · 01/02/2012 08:27

The city (that is, your average bod that works there) can't. Stand him because. he GLOATS over. the recession.

Seems to gleefully welcome it, in fact, with no thought to the human cost behind it.

And he's a gitwizard.

edam · 01/02/2012 08:46

Don't like his delivery either, but I'm glad the City doesn't like him. We don't need a cosy consensus - business correspondents are supposed to be independent, offering analysis and insight to the public, not doing PR for financiers and bankers. Consensus about Fred Goodwin being brilliant and greed is good is what got us into this mess in the first place.
