He's a shameless byline bandit who does get his own stories but can't resist stealing those if others. He should be pitied because it's a sign of insecurity.

I love it when he's on R4's PM. Cuddly Uncle Eddie Mair makes mincemeat of him.

Stephanie Flanders is much better qualified and I find her reporting more balanced. Robert peston is a sensationalist who lets his personal beliefs into his reporting.

I cringe when i hear him because he is so biased towards his own agenda, it's the same feeling I get when I read the daily mail!

I like my journalists to be impartial!

Robert Peston has a brain the size of a planet but only human-scaled speaking organs, so he has to talk as he does to avoid talking business-bollocks. Or something like that.

I think he is lovely. His face is just like those on the little Lego men, broad and square, hairline and mouth the same. His delivery amuses me and if it is a way of dealing with a stutter not very mumsnetish to pick on it.

Robert Peston floated a little idea a while ago saying that it was a shame that state schools didn't put successful alumni forward to inspire future generations of pupils like public schools do.

He shyly shuffled into the limelight as one such former comprehensive school star willing to do his bit.

What a typically modest gesture, I thought. But I did wonder how such a great reporter hadn't noticed that plenty of former state-educated people already do that but without making a big song and dance about it.

The public school people tend not to shout about it either.

I've never understood why we've heard so much from RP and so little from Stephanie Flanders in the last three years. She is the economics editor which, in my mind, is equivalent to the Chancellor in relation to the Business Secretary, or more so, I thought she was his boss. Was she on leave or something? Or is this a product of RP's ambition and pushiness?

She took maternity leave...

he does sometimes talk oddly in RL too, if you have a bus to catch for Gods sake don't ask him a question about the economy though

Stephanie Flanders did have mat leave back in 2008, but she came back in early 2009. Its difficult in the business unit because often roles cross over.... Sometimes it comes down to personalities and Stephanie can be... Umm... Challenging.
