To be upset about this reaction?

I joined a diet club after christmas and have just got my half stone award tonight (with a half pound weight loss).

Came home feeling quite pleased, but I've been told how disappointing that weight loss is and how it wasn't very good. :( Yes I know it could have been better but it was a stressful week and I'm happy with any weight loss!

AIBU to be upset by this reaction? I am probably over reacting as he's right it wasn't great but hey ho.

By who, DH, kids?

MrsMcEnroe · 31/01/2012 19:12

Who told you that your weight loss wasn't good enough?

KittyFane · 31/01/2012 19:12

You got an award from the diet club- who was disappointed? Your DH? If so ignore - what a pig.

(btw well done you, wish I could do the same :( )

TheMonster · 31/01/2012 19:14

Fuck off is a complete response! You LOST weight, and have been losing weight steadily for some time now, so have been sticking to your diet and heading for your goal. It's been shown again and again that people who lose weight slowly and over a longer time are more likely to have actually made sustainable llifestyle changes that will let them keep the weight off long term, rather than crash dieters who yo-yo. Why is he being so negative? I am Angry for you - losing weight is damn hard and you are doing it! Ignore him he's a wanker. Tell him if he doesn't shut the fuck up I'll come and sit on him, and I would lay money that I weigh more than the two of you put together. He's a miserable twat and should be encouraging you, not being rude and mean - he's supposed to love you ffs!

Winkly · 31/01/2012 19:23

What Pom said.

YANBU.

mopbucket · 31/01/2012 19:24

Leave the bastard Grin

MsCorleone · 31/01/2012 19:27

Tell him to fuck off!

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 31/01/2012 19:28

Half a stone since Christmas and your dp says that's dissapointing? Shock

I really hope he has a body like Peter Andres if he can go around saying things like that.

What a cock!

He is supposed to be supportive and encourage you even if you lost two pounds since Christmas.

I think he probably is insecure about himself so he likes you to feel bad about yourself because it's the only way he knows to make himself feel better. Twats do that you see.

hatesponge · 31/01/2012 19:28

Your 'd'p is a prat. Losing weight slowly and steadily is the best way. Please ignore his negative comments and keep on with it, you're doing brilliantly! You will have weeks where you only lose half a pound, or even just stay the same, but any week where you don't gain is a success imo :)

(and can you pass me some motivation please, I have 2.5 stone left to lose and seem to have lost all my willpower :( )

LadyWidmerpool · 31/01/2012 19:30

I take it your DH looks like George Clooney?

LadyWidmerpool · 31/01/2012 19:30

And is as fit as James Cracknell?

Rillyrillygoodlooking · 31/01/2012 19:31

Well done on losing half a stone even in the face of such idiot behaviour from your DP. It so much better to lose the weight slowly as it is more likely to stay off.

And again, as they say in the brownies, well done well done well done Grin Grin Grin

yanbu

The only acceptable response to "I have achieved something" is "Let's celebrate, you're amazing".

JinglingAllTheWay · 31/01/2012 19:46

Thank you for all your kind words, is making me feel better :)

Apparently, he's only disappointed as he knows I could do much better Hmm

Some people will always want to rain on your parade, Jiggling. Ignore the bastard him, and keep going.

I have one of those naff fridge magnets that echoes true "no-one can make you feel inferior without your consent".

AThingInYourLife · 31/01/2012 19:57

I dunno, 7lbs in 4 weeks isn't great...

Winkly · 31/01/2012 19:58

Does he often act like a total prick play down your achievements or tell you things "for your own good"? Or is tonight a one off special? And does he have a body like this, or could he too 'do much better'?

(last part retracted if your husband is actually Alexander Skarsgard)

JinglingAllTheWay · 31/01/2012 19:58

I've only been going two weeks Athinginyourlife!

travailtotravel · 31/01/2012 19:59

Any weight loss is weight loss and whoever said slow and steady wins the race (what is it with me and cliches tonight?) was right. If not a bit smug and annoying.

WTF AThingInYourLife? Biscuit

7lbs in 4 weeks is brilliant. Saying it's not is rather rude and shows that you have no idea what good sustainable weight loss is all about.

It's averaging at over 1.5lbs a week, which is what you should be aiming for - no more than 2lbs a week.

Jingling be proud of yourself. You've done amazing.
