Me and DH went to a party in December and got drunk, don't normally drink much and it was a stupid thing to do. However some "friends" at the party took lots of photos which included some very horrible ones of me and DH V drunk which they have put on both our facebook pages. I know I am cross because I am embarresed but do you think I ABU to feel cross at these friends for tagging us in photo's which all our FB friends/collegues see which they have obviously done to upset us. It seems very bitchy to go to the effort of putting them on FB. I don't often use my FB account and I know this is the downside of facebook but I thought these people were friends and I feel really upset by it.

They probably think it is funny, I doubt it was done maliciously.

marcopront · 29/01/2012 16:18

Why is it bitchy to put photos on facebook? A lot of people put photos on all the time, it takes minimal effort and then they tag their friends.

Fairyloo · 29/01/2012 16:18

Downside of facebook! You can delete the tag but I do think they should have asked permission. It's a bit mean.

Are they that bad? We always think we look worse then we actually do. It was a night off and you are entitled to have fun and get drunk who cares who sees?!!

Imagine how celebs feel!!

TheCatInTheHairnet · 29/01/2012 16:20

Didn't you have to give permission? My FB always asks if I want to be tagged. And unless it's a very flattering one, I always say no Wink

Sarsaparilllla · 29/01/2012 16:21

I think you're being paranoid to think it's been done malicoulsly, they'll have just uploaded all the pics from that evening in one go!

If it bothers you detag yourself, or ask them to remove the pics, I doubt they've done it to upset you at all

Sarsaparilllla · 29/01/2012 16:22

TheCatInTheHairNet - you must've set that up in your options, good idea really to see things before you're tagged, I might find those settings on mine

MollyBroom · 29/01/2012 16:23

Why assume it has been done maliciously. People on MN have very strange friendships.

Shushshessleeping · 29/01/2012 16:24

Detag yourself

SoupDragon · 29/01/2012 16:26

If you don't want drunk photos of yourselves, don't get drunk.

Kayano · 29/01/2012 16:27

Wtf? That's standard part practice

Untag and get over yourselves?

what exactly is wrong with the photos - are we talking smudged mascara or worse?

katedan · 29/01/2012 16:28

TheCatInTheHairnet - How do I set that on my profile? would have been happier if they had asked permisson.

Fairyloo - In a VERY small way I do now know how celebs feel!!!!

They both know how I feel about photo's of myself as I never look good in photo's even sober I have a "unusual" face.

These photo's are horrid as I am so obviously drunk (I know my own fault) and I have FB friends from mummy world who would never imagine I woud be the type to get so drunk.

I hate people even putting pictures of me on FB. Even flattering ones.

I wouldn't put any photos of anyone up there without asking permission and it really pisses me off that friends of mine have put pictures of me and my DC up in their FB accounts.

I know that someone will probably come on here and say, "oh, it's only the same as them having a picture of you in a photo album! What's the problem?" But no, it's not IMO because photo albums are shoved in a drawer and probably shown to close family and friends occasionally, not 500 acquaintances on the Internet!

Anyway, went off on a bit of a tangent but Yanbu.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 29/01/2012 16:30

They may be on the most advanced version of facebook which recognises people using facial recognition and tags them automatically - they may not have actively tagged you.

Change your settings so this isn't possible and de-tag.

Seriously...

Get Over it/ yourself.

Mummy friends? Mummy friend don't go out and have a good time then? Mummy friends... Hmm

RobinSparkles · 29/01/2012 16:33

Btw, they probably weren't trying to be bitchy - probably more like, "here's a funny picture of you! Didn't we have a laugh? Here y'are!" but I understand why you would be upset.

DaPrincessBride · 29/01/2012 16:34

YANBU. Untag it and make sure you have the Facebook option where you need permission to tag someone. I have many, many appalling photos sat in my 'permission box' :O

verytellytubby · 29/01/2012 16:40

Mummy friends? My 'mummy friends' are the biggest bunch of hardcore drinkers I know Grin

katedan · 29/01/2012 16:45

Thank you I have changed my profile so I have to give permisson for photo's. I so rarely look at facebook I did not know you needed to do this. I only found out about the photo's as I was e mailed to say they were there!

As someone said earlier if I don't like it don't get so drunk. I will certainly try to avoid this situation again.

YABU standard standard Facebook etiquette! Don't be daft easy enough to detag or come off Facebook alltogether if you don't like it.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 29/01/2012 17:02

You are being over the top suggesting that they did it to upset you. If they wanted to do that they would have don't it straight after the event. It was probably just done along with a general photo sort out while clearing their cameras memory card.
