Me and DH went to a party in December and got drunk, don't normally drink much and it was a stupid thing to do. However some "friends" at the party took lots of photos which included some very horrible ones of me and DH V drunk which they have put on both our facebook pages. I know I am cross because I am embarresed but do you think I ABU to feel cross at these friends for tagging us in photo's which all our FB friends/collegues see which they have obviously done to upset us. It seems very bitchy to go to the effort of putting them on FB. I don't often use my FB account and I know this is the downside of facebook but I thought these people were friends and I feel really upset by it.

Just untag them and delete.

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite · 29/01/2012 17:04

If you do not like the public nature of Facebook, then do not use it. If you do not have a profile, you cannot be tagged.

If you wish to use Facebook, you have to accept it in all it's hideousness.

jasperJohns · 29/01/2012 17:07

It is the downside of FB.

Someone has just put a load of pictures of my dh's 18th on! Slightly embarrassing for him.

PS plural of photo is photos.

CrabbyBigbottom · 29/01/2012 17:10

YANBU to not like it, but YABU to assume it's malicious on their part.

I loathe having my photo taken, and seeing 99% of photos of me. My Dsil puts up quite a few of me, and if I don't like them, I just untag them so noone on my profile can see them (too late by then, but at least they're not there for repeat viewing). Wink

Adjust your settings and put your 'mummy friends' into a group you can judiciously filter out things that will upset their fragile sensibilities.

The world and his mum, dad and dog have had munty pictures taken of them at some point or another. The finger of fate has selected you today. Chill out about it.

TartyMcFarty · 29/01/2012 17:18

YANBU. I wouldn't dream of posting embarrassing or obviously unflattering photos of anyone, let alone tag them. The people who just upload everything in one go without editing for tedium are idiots anyway.

CumberdickBendybatch · 29/01/2012 17:19

The plural of photo always confuses me.

Nagoo · 29/01/2012 17:21

Grin @ munty pictures.

I too have disabled tagging :)

t0lk13n · 29/01/2012 17:24

Photos....no need of an apostrophe. Sorry, it bugs me! I hate being tagged without permission....go into privacy settings!

devonhorns · 29/01/2012 17:27

I think your response is valid.

The only way to stop your 'mates' who are on fb from putting pics of you on fb is to tell them not to put them on or not pose for any pictures to start off with, or stay away from cameras.

It is standard practice, but it doesn't make it right. I hate fb.

Cant stand people who think they have the right to post whatever they like on their fb accounts about others, for whatever reason.

If you are a celeb it's part of what you do, so yes get over it.

lifesalongsong · 29/01/2012 17:37

Yes, I find it annoying as well unless the photo is very flattering, sadly that never seems to be the case.

If you don't approve the tag will the person who posted the photo know that you haven't done it or does the tag just disappear?

No need to be confused by plurals at all, just remember that they never need an apostrophe and you won't go far wrong.

DeWe · 29/01/2012 19:27

If they did it to upset you, then I'd wonder what you did when drunk to upset them...

kelly2000 · 29/01/2012 19:41

YANBU, there is nothing sadder than those people who take photos at an event and then rush to put them on facebook to show they have a life. When they do it to humiliate people it is even more pathetic. The photos are available to anyone they are friends with, and anyone in any networks they join which can have thousands of members.
Ask them to remove them, you can also ask facebook to remove them, but unlikely they will. Then detag yourself, or leave them tagged and go to the privacy settings and make sure any photos of you which you are tagged in are blocked from your friends list (will not stop your friends friends being able to see them). You can also make sure that people have to ask permission to tag you in the future.

duckdodgers · 29/01/2012 21:37

"I have FB friends from mummy world who would never imagine I woud be the type to get so drunk."

And what exactly is the "type" that gets drunk then? Hmm

And who seriously says things like "mummy world"!
