to ask you to distract me?

DH is in A&E, he has been beaten up tonight, he has lots of bruising and they need to drain the blood from his ear and x-ray his neck, apart from that he is alright. I am up and about and have no chance of going back to sleep, I am running out of tobacco and the shop doesn't open for another 2 hours, I do have a good supply of tea though!

I want to jump in a taxi but I can't because DSs are fast asleep.

Please distract me, so I don't smoke all my tobacco or bundle the kids up and take them out into the cold.

Sorry to any pedantics out there, its 5:30am, I'm knackered and worried, so if there is anything wrong with this post, keep it to yourself.

Omg do you know why he was beaten up? Did he know them? Is it rough round where you are Op?

You sound calm! I would be freaking out!

Do you have any chocolate or biscuits?

Hugs (((( )))))

IdontknowwhyIcare · 22/01/2012 05:49

Oh gosh. I dont know what to say to distract you but I'm very sorry about your DH. Hopefully he will be ok. Send him a text to get some cigs for the way home? Could you text a friend in a short while to get some fags from the petrol station and drop them round?

EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 05:52

We can see no reason, he was jumped from behind, nothing has been stolen, he took money and an Iphone out with him and they left them both. It's not a rough area but it does have problems (don't most places).

I might sound calm but I'm not, hence running out of tobacco and I think at the rate I'm drinking tea I'll be finishing them off shortly!

googietheegg · 22/01/2012 05:54

Hello ex what a shitty morning. Drink loads of tea and ration your tobacco. Do you have any pizza delivery places that do cigarettes too?

EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 05:55

Only 1 hour and 30 mins till shop opens, not that I'm counting, if I get desperate I can always go through the ashtray picking out dogends and make new fags out of them Grin

OP posts:
EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 05:56

I don't know googie, I can go look on the t'internet, that should distract me for a while

OP posts:
EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 05:59

£9.00 for a pack of 20, think I'll smoke the dogends!!!

OP posts:
googietheegg · 22/01/2012 06:09

£9!!!! cheeky buggers!

MissTapestry · 22/01/2012 06:20

Wow, sorry for you and dh Sad can you search for willy willy willy on mn? I'm on my phone so can't link, but I should imagine that'll distract you for a while if you've not read it! Grin

BuckBuckMcFate · 22/01/2012 06:20

That sounds awful, were you woken with a phonecall to tell you? Was it the hospital you spoke to or him? When will you be able to go and see him?

Re baccy supplies. Roll what you have left so you know exactly how many you have left. Then do some of the jobs you've been avoiding? My floors are always extra clean during times of stress. Clean the paintwork and doors?

How long will it take to get to the shop? You'll need to get dc up and ready so that should take up a bit of time too.

Do you have any friends who could come round and watch DC for you? I know I'd be more than willing if one of my friends needed me to in a situation like this.

Chinateacup · 22/01/2012 06:27

What a horrible night you must have had. Hope DH is ok. You know, things ALWAYS seem better in daylight.

EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 06:31

Is willy willy willy the report the builder thread? I shall have a read.

I am rolling very very thin fags! only 1 hr left till shop, its only 2mins away so I can pop out whilst the boys sleep, they're 12&10 so if they wake up when I'm not here they're fine.

Cleaning? my house is sparkling at the moment, well it is until I turn round and see the reality.

I phoned him at 5am, i was getting worried as its unusual for him to be that late home from a night out, i did tell him off for not ringing me, he didn't want to wake me, he is really shaken up and keeps crying, I want to go and give him a hug.

OP posts:
EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 06:33

I don't think I want to see him in daylight, he's got a bust lip, cauliflower ear and facial bruising, to what extent I don't know but he says it looks pretty bad and he has a tendency to downplay injuries.

OP posts:
MissTapestry · 22/01/2012 06:44

Yeah, that's the one, made me Grin for ages, and MUCH better for you than cleaning! I hope everything turns out ok and the bastards that did it get their nuts eaten by rabid ferrets! (assuming it was men, I don't want be accused of sexismWink)

EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 06:48

MissT, I am only on page 1 of the thread and I already look like this Grin I have decided not to read it whilst I have a sip of tea, I have already broken one keyboard this week by splattering it with liquid.

OP posts:
BuckBuckMcFate · 22/01/2012 06:54

Sad I'm not surprised you feel like that, and the bruising will have started to come out by the time you see him.

For some reason I thought you had young children. At least you don't have to faff around getting them ready, not much fun when you need a smoke!

Cleaning is my default position when I need to keep my mind occupied and hands busy.

I'm smoking 'prison rollies' too this morning Smile Our shop doesn't open until 9 and I forgot to go yesterday.

It's odd they didn't steal anything from him isn't it? It makes it even more pointless! Has he spoken to the police at all?

EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 07:14

Its only taken 2 hours but I am now crying! Its been a fucking crap week and I can only hope that next week is better, I'd be amazed if it could actually get anyworse.

The only good thing is that my tobacco supply has held out!

DH has just phoned, he is sounding a lot calmer, the police have taken his clothing and he's given them a statement, no doubt they will be visiting us at some point (it'll give the neighbours something to talk about as it will be the second time this week they've paid us a visit) he is now on his way to Plastics ward, I think they want to check that the cartilage in his ear hasn't suffered any damage.

Also if DH remembers correctly where the attack took place, there should be CCTV coverage, so fingers crossed!

'Prison Rollies' not heard that for a long while Smile

OP posts:
kreecherlivesupstairs · 22/01/2012 07:20

Blimey, it must be serious if the plastics team are getting involved.
Good luck to you and DH, prepare your DSs for a bit of a shock.

runningwilde · 22/01/2012 07:22

Just wanted to say I hope today goes ok and your dh feels better. Where was he? Could it have been someone he knew? Let us know how you all get on today x

liveinazoo · 22/01/2012 07:22

couldnt just flit by without sending you a hug and hoping everything is ok with bloke

sunnydelight · 22/01/2012 07:28

Poor you (and him). Hope you lasted until the shop opened!

BuckBuckMcFate · 22/01/2012 07:29

Well done for lasting 2 hours I say. You're stuck in a position where you are feeling helpless and you've probably had a lot of adrenaline rushing through you so I think tears are perfectly acceptable under these circumstances

EXmrsmascarahead · 22/01/2012 07:29

Running that thought has crossed my mind, the business that we are in has a lot of politics involved in it and we have stepped on a few toes, last month my cousin was beaten up because of these politics. But DH and I have managed to keep our anonimity(sp) until recently so I'm a bit doubtful if its someone we know, but you never know, I hope its been captured on CCTV.

I think in about an hour I will phone DD and get her to come home, I will have to go to the hospital and drop some clothes of for him so I need someone to watch the boys. I hope they are going to be okay, they've had a shit enough week already.

OP posts:
kreecherlivesupstairs · 22/01/2012 07:36

Bloody hell it all sounds horrible. Will he be admitted do you think?
Sending keeping it all together vibes for your you and your family. And fingers crossed for the CCTV.

whyme2 · 22/01/2012 07:42

Just reading your thread OP. What a rubbish night for you. You have my sympathy. Before Christmas my dh was attacked while working a night shift. He arrived home at 6am with a large cut on his eye brow and facial bruising. It was a bit of a shock especially as he was working so least expected.

This week the case is coming to court and the attacker has pleaded guilty already as there were witnesses and CCTV footage.

The police were excellant.

I wish your dh a speedy recovery and make sure you look after yourself too.
